Thanks for your reply :)

To go into a bit more detail, we found a brand new Ifor Williams HB403 for sale on eBay with 40 minutes left, £900 at the time and we placed a bid and won it for just under £1200. We've not parted with any money as we planned on paying cash on collection. We sent them an email straight after the auction ended asking if it was possible to collect it at the weekend, and if they required a deposit. We haven't had a reply yet, YES I know it's soon and they've only had a day to reply, but it's just seeming too good to be true now? They had a postcode on their details, put it into street-view and it shows a business unit in the middle of the town.

What do you all think? A scam?

Ok, so you have 'won' a brand new Ifor Williams HB403 trailer online for £1200.
They normally retail new (according to IFW's own price list) at £3420, from reputable dealers.
So I deduce that either;
1. It's a scam and you'll lose your money (deposit or the whole lot).
2. The trailer is as described, for £1200 but stolen.

If it were me, I'd be wanting to view the trailer, and checking whether it is stolen or not (from anywhere in the UK) before I parted with a single penny. Ask where they bought it, why is it for sale, do they have receipts etc.

Sorry, as I know this isn't what you want to hear.

Hm, that's exactly what I was thinking! That's what we planned on doing :)

There's also stickers on it (back & sides) that look like they say koch.com which is a site for water purification :o

Do the new IW's not have some sort of tracking device on them, or microchip or something? Don't really know how it works but if we actually get to see it I could phone IW with the code or whatever to find out if it's been stolen? :o

....... and it just seems too good to be true.......

Generally speaking, in life, when things seem to good to be true, there's a good reason for that. They are.

Check the serial number with Ifor Williams, they keep a register of stolen trailers.

IF the trailer is stolen, and IF you paid a fair market price, which you didn't, then you may be entitled to keep it, if you're caught. You bought a new trailer for peanuts, and if you're caught, then firstly it will be taken from you, and secondly, you may face prosecution.

It's too good to be true, from your description.

Alec.
