just out of interest does anyone know how long it takes to settle a claim on average, understand each case will be different but just to work out if i have to start saving? i have paid excess at vets but they reckoned it could be around 6 weeks to settle bill and on there terms and conditions it says invoice to be settled within 30 days, egh its so unpleasant. Girls at the practice were very nice and said not to worry and they would try to chase it at their end but it is horrible dealing with horse being PTS and i feel this is dragging it out and making me feel as though i cant grieve properly :(

any advice appreciated, thanks in advance

I have been with them since I bought my horse 11 years ago. I have only claimed once, a few years ago, and they sent a cheque within a week of receiving the information!

I have also worked at an equine vets and always found them one of the friendliest and quickest insurance companies - never had a problem with them (unlike other companies I could mention!).

Have you tried giving them a call and asking? At least check they have all the information they need so you are not wasting time.

I am with them and claimed once for my old mare, and one for my boy and have to say they were brilliant both times... hope you get it sorted xx

thanks i will try that the vets sent all forms away so they have had them a week, it is still early days but i am just feeling a bit anxious about it all, wish i was a millionaire!

fingers crossed it will all go ok, unfortunatley my claim isnt straight forward ive been told, BEVA guidelines etc.
