Have you tried www.arabianlines.com Always loads for sale on there, plus forum that may be able to help. Also list of studs. Worth a try! Good luck - I'm going to be looking for one again in while, so hoping there will be plenty around! x

What are you looking for? Is it for general riding or the show ring. I hope this isnt going to sound like an advert but I know of a lovely 4 year old that a friend will be advertising in due course. Might be too young, but was going really well last year when backed (cantering on the bit and hacking out well). If you are interested PM me.

Have you tried posting some - wanted ads?

eg. at www.horsequest.co.uk

or even here has a horse section:

http://www.preloved.co.uk/ - they also have some for sale or loan...

also local free ads?

Also - try calling Willow Tree Riding Centre - they may know someone looking to sell or a dealer that they might use?

am sure you can post wanted ads in quite a few places - you just will have to be careful about vetting what comes back to you!

My friend has been looking for an arab for a while now and to be honest £2000 for a 7-12 year old is going to take you a while to find.

All the arabs that we have found while we have been looking have been around 4-5 yrs old that have only just been broken and about £3500. For £2000 you may get a yearling or an older arab, say 15+ but otherwise you will just have to be patient and wait as it sounds like you have looked in all the usual places.

I think you may be looking long and hard. I ended up buying a yearling from an arab stud dispersal sale to get something within my budget. I had looked for over a year. Even the babies are expensive.

I did think of something, which may or may not be of use. There are arab racing yards dotted around the country and you may pick up a really nice ex-racer for little money and put the rest into re-schooling. Or you may strike lucky and find a chuck out.

When I was looking, I found that there is a specialist arab sales once a year, I think in Newmarket. I bought my foal a week before I was due to go. I had to make a decision fast, no regrets mind, but I would have loved to have gone to the sales to see what it was all about. I had it in my diary for months whilst I was searching for my arab and never did get there. This year, I must find out when its on, because I would like to go anyway.

There are a few arab racing events as well, so if you google you can find where and when, it may be worth popping down to talk to the trainers who can put you in touch with people.

When are the newmarket Arab sales? I haven't heard of them! Sound like a fun day out - though I would have to go without the chequebook, or I'd be bringing them all home!!

I don't know when the sales are this year I'm afraid, I'm a little out of touch now, but keep an eye on ARO announcements, it will certainly be in there, and HHO, I would imagine the Endurance publications would publish details too. Have you tried those for sales lists as well?

We used to take consignments there and usually got decent prices, and of course at the time there were some excellent Russian horses coming over from the den Hartogs in the Netherlands. You get all sorts, not just the racehorses.

Good Luck with your search, you'll probably open your Free Ads or what ever it is called and your horse will be in there, no picture, and just down the road from you. I am a strong believer in "If it's meant to be....." I wasn't even looking for a horse when a friend called me and said "I've found you a horse, you have just got to go and see him" had a super 4 years with him.

I have a nice gelding here who is wasted. I would sell to a really first class home only. He is really lovely and needs his own person. Just let me know if you are interested, he is not expensive due to the home being more important than price.
He is show quality but performance bred and should do very well in any sphere.

No advertising, unless he is under £500. I just got told off by admin!

Suggest you pay for an ad in horsemart, horsequest or Horse and hound....

You're going to need to be in the right place at the right time, but it is possible. I've just done it and he's a fantastic horse. (Yes, I'm over the moon!). I just kept browsing adverts everywhere and spotted him the day he was advertised. Within 24 hours I'd got the deposit on him.
Sometimes you are more likely to see them cheaper in the free papers than on the specialist Arabian websites. Do you have any contacts with Arab breeders and other owners? Sometimes if you put word out it helps.
But, £2k is a pretty low price for sure.

Have to add that yes, although £2k is a low budget it can be done!!

I got my mare for £1300 inc all tack and rugs, she's pure bred with fantastic bloodlines, absolutely lovely mare who did bit of everything, inc having a huge jump! Was a total idiot and sold her because wanted to get something bigger for OH to share and couldn't afford two. But did sell her to the person who has her sire, full and half brother so she did go to the best home!!! And my boy now is a star!

Sort of looking for another one now (and keep reading the replies from people above and having to resist grabbing the cheque book!), and I do think that they find you, so keep looking! It is definitely worth looking at local freeads, tack shops etc etc. Good luck, let us know how you go! x
