I was very interested to have a look at TB lover's thread re Ashford Horse sales which is obviously bottom end but some people suggested Brightwells and it looked from the website that they have a good sale in August for nicely bred youngsters? Trouble is I'm in Aberdeenshire and would need to Gillie down the two I'm thinking off and then get them produced for the sales. Does anybody know anybody who does this and also what kind of a risk is it with regard to horses not fetching realistic prices.?

Both are mares, one a yearling (very, very nice, would show,) and one a 3 year old, nice, straight but takes after Grandpa (Clover Hill) so a bit of a fugly. Both super breeding. Any info or suggestions welcome. I defo need to downsize after recent tragedy.

You have to be realistic here. There are so many well bred young horses going for nothing now, It would cost a lot and you are probably only going to get £1000-2000 for them. I bought my super bred gelding there for £1800 last summer. I would get what you can by advertising then and getting good homes.

It's pretty expensive to send them to Addington performance sales if that's the one you're thinking of? first of you have to take them to the selection days in May to be selected into the sales and they have to have top continental or british breeding then over £500 to enter plus all have to have full vet and X-rays. Then they take commission on top. You have to have a youngster worth decent money (5 figures normally) to bother.
