I dont have scales that will register 5g!!!

Anyone know how much 5g of powdered brewers yeast is in ml?

Or alternatively, how much do you feed?? (And for what size horse)

Thanks

I feed 25g for my 500kg horse and thats 3 of those blue 15ml scoops! It depends on what's in the powder, some powders are heavier than others. It was easier to measure out 100g of the stuff using the 15ml measure, I got 12 scoops and worked out 25g = 3 scoops

oh crumbs i just sprinkle it in ad lib and sprinkle some garlic to cover the taste up cos my boy knows its there and if he gets it straight he chucks his feed bucket over the stable door, not a helpful reply but funny!

Mine get a scoop in each feed of the scoop provided by Simple Systems - I would say they get about 2 heaped tablespoons a day in total. They are a 16.3 clydesdale - 740 k and a 15 gypsy cob - 500 k.

I feed a fair amount as sweet itch prevention.

I use measure similar to a cough medicine measure.

I feed around 55ml of brewers yeast powder at the moment. I up this to around 75ml in heavy midge weather and will lower this dose to around 25ml once the frosts have killed off most of the midges.

The only think I have notice is that this year my horse thyroid gland is slighly bigger than others. However on talking to the vet might have absolutely nothing to do with the brewers yeast.

Definitely worth feeding to protect from the midges - I rarely have spots of blood on the sheath now.

My boy's belly is covered in bites, which all swell up, but arent scabby.... I was only giving about 25ml of brewers yeast (cos I wasnt sure of weights etc and didnt want to overdose!!), but will probs need to up that now, thanks for all your advice!!

Will get out the scales and try to weigh it properly... at risk of the neighbours thinking I'm a drug dealer!!!

Hope it works, they make him very itchy and grumpy!!
