Quite large, so I don’t think he’s last year’s, there’s a much smaller one and the same pond. He’s got a noticeable bend by the tail, gets round ok, looks quite fat, lots of bits to eat in the pond, don’t think his organs are squashed. I will pop to the local pond place for advice but until then, is there anything I should be doing? The others look fine. Rubbish quality pic, think my lens needs a clean.

They finally reproduced-literally like 2 or 3 extras appeared last year-they're devils for eating their own babies! I don't really want many more, it's a diddy pond, 8 is enough.

If he's always been bent, and has managed to get to that size/age then it's just one of those things and I wouldn't worry about it. A bit cramped in the egg, squashed somewhere as a fry etc.

If it's a recent development, definitely test the water, particularly for excess nitrates (causes Nitrate poisoning), but from my memory Mycobacteria (Aka Fish Tuberculosis) can cause spinal deformities too.

I’ve just seen I was tagged in this, sorry. My guess is a birth defect or an injury.

Im possiblt not the best person to ask, as we’ve never tested water parameters etc in 20 odd years. Fish are healthy, and some that were given to us are probably getting on for 40 years old now.
