I really need some help I've just taken the plunge and handed my notice in at work and therefore have 4 weeks to organise myself and move up to cheltenham before I start my new job!

I have a Welsh C gelding who is the most amazing good doer! Ideally I want to move to a DIY yard but would quite happily move to a field for a temporary basis during the summer! I'm going to be moving to the Reddings so would prefer a place thats close to there, as my current yard where i live atm is only 2 miles away from me! I'm currently paying £30 a week which i m happy to pay but would prefer it to be cheaper!

Any little bits of information would be beneficial, like local tackshops, farriers, vets etc! I have so much to organise!

Think there is a livery place on the Shurdington road which is good and think it's near the reddings.
Best to look in Countrywide / local saddlers etc

Hiya,
when you say saddleries, do you mean genuine saddleries or just horsey shops? The best saddlers round here are Coln Saddlery, in Guiting Power, and there are endless horsey shops - Prestbury horse supplies bang smack in the middle of Cheltenham on the race course.

I will be offering DIY as of September if you're interested? And can warn you against lots of bad yards in the mean time!! PM me if you'd like the numbers of some good local DIY yards!

yeah I mean tack shops! Only so that I can go see if they have any adverts posted up and see whether the people working there know of any vacancies and best yards to go to !

Will PM you Sammi88 as know of a yard who NEED another livery quickly (only have 1 horse currently and he's a lonely little neddy!) so you may get a good deal!

Yards in Cheltenham:

Home Farm, Brockhampton- Free use of outdoor school, pay to use indoor, geldings only, turnout looks okay, not sure what hacking is like, lots of onsite competitions dressage and show jumping
Church Lane Shurdington- Small indoor, large outdoor, onsite hacking in summer, need to ride down busy main road to get to normal hacking, some RC competitions, lovely fields, split mares/geldings and summer/winter turnout, doesn’t like crib biters :(
Noverton Farm- AVOID at all costs, run down, messy, had strangles and won’t let you bring outside RI’s on you can only used YO’s daughter
Withington Manor- £££’s never have space for DIY livery, full livery £400 but facilities to die for.
Deer Park, Brockhampton (different Brockhampton to Home Farm)- About 15 mins drive from Cheltenham, but the BEST hacking of any yard locally, quiet lanes and lots of off road, outdoor school (no lights) and XC course.

Those are the ones I can tell you about, didn’t go and see any others.
