A woman at the yard has just sold her horse who was much too big and too much for her to manage and is now looking for something else. She wants something around 10 but I'm sure she would consider older or younger, mare or gelding and about 15-16 hands. She has had a bad run with horses and loses her confidence quite easily so needs something fairly calm, no TBs or spookers and pref good to hack and can jump a small course. Can't be too green but she only has about £1500 to spend. DOes anyone know of anything for sale that fits this description?

In honesty I'd say considering the current market you would be lucky to get something that fits that description for less than £2,500, but hey thats just my opinion!

Good luck with the search though

I don't sorry - but that doesn't seem like much money for that kind of horse.

I would imagine a horse as you have described would be in demand!

Have to agree, horses that are safe in traffic alone would bring more than that, they worth their weight!!
Dont write off tb's,mine is probably as quiet if not quieter than most cobs, and he has impeccable manners, but again you will pay more than£1.5k for him

I know, I told her that but she says that's all she has to spend. For the money she is just goijng to end up with something she can't handle like the one she has just sold! But I said I would ask around.

I love TBs but not what she wants

You may find a trusty cob if you have time and patience, you need to find someone in financial bother,or niaeve, lol!!

is possible though, our yard got an unfit, fat , hairy cob for that money. Dealer had assumed he couldn't jump when in fact he can easily do a 3ft 6 course

For that money she should be able to pick a good horse up but they would be older than 10! Where abouts are you based? I saw a horse advertised locally here for £1700 with tack but he was 16. It was in the classifieds in the paper - the horses in there tend to be cheaper than ones in Horsemart etc.

She might be better off looking at an older horse even a 16 year old would give her years of happiness and would have been there and done it and got the T-shirt!

She already has on old mare that she has been stuck with as its owners didn't want to know any more. People tend to take advantage of her and fob of their useless/dangerous animals on her.

I have tried to tell her that she is unlike to find anything for that money but she has seen adverts on horsemart, like those posted above, but I guess most horses selling for that amount have issues which she would be unable to handle. Perhaps I can persuade her to go for something older.
