Anyone know of Barry Wright pls.pm me as i need info(private)

Don't know anyone involved in this but a 5 stage vetting means bloods were taken; testing them will prove if the horse was drugged to pass the vetting. I would make sure I had the test results before accusing anyone of doping horses for vettings...

The only horse i've ever bought off a dealer, i took home for a 1 week trial first... the only thing he said as i put him in the lorry was.. "he's a fussy eater, it's taken me a while to put weight on him, if i get him back having lost it all, i wont be happy"
I didn't have to leave a deposit or anything.
That horse is Ernie, and that was back in '01 and i still have him today

Not all dealers are dodgy.

The fact you used his vet??!!!????
If you are an experienced horsewoman that fact alone should have rung very loud alarm bells

erhhh....... why have you written this????? we are not on this forum to tar and feather other members, when they ask for advise. And where does experience horse woman come into this as ALL VETS have a code on conduct to follow, as if it came to light "his" vet was at fault then he must face the consequences
no vet would face a back hander if it ment he may be struck off, not for a few quid any how...

Prudunce - sorry to hear about yet another set back in all of this... not been a good year for you!! I personally would find it difficult to stay calm when it has really caused you so much stress.

I cant believe the response that you've had from some of the posts on here. Yes its clear that you have written asking for help with some degree of emotion involved, but surely people can realise that and therefore act sensitively towards it? Why kick someone when it very clear that they're already down?

Although this is an open forum, perhaps a better way of dealing with things would be to write constructive comments (like get bloods done etc) rather than statements like "I told you so", or "how stupid were you to not hack out etc..."

I guess I must be stupid too for buying my horse out without riding it more than once, or not hacking out

I know that you did do things the best that you could within your budget and time frame, including trying to get the bloods tested too. Hope that you track him down and that he accepts responsibility for the stress that he has caused you and the poor animal.

IMO, although this is a public forum, I think that those who get a kick from making bold statements about things they dont know anything about should perhaps focus more on making things better in their own lives instead of muddling in others affairs and being so darn right bitchy.

Prudence I know how you feel, been there, done that got the lame horse it the field to prove it. The only satisfaction I get out of it is telling as many people as possible what a disgusting man the dealer was that I used and I know I have stopped people from buying horses from him. Call me petty it gives me pleasure.

Unfortunately I was not the first person he ripped off and I won't be the last. I didn't go to court over it in the end as I didn't want to waste any more money on the worm. Saying that I lost £7k

and I have not really ridden a horse in 20 months.

Here i am again(i do hate people who think they know best)and i find it hard to walk away when someone p*sses me off!! SO the 2(main 2 ladies, young girls??)who obv have nothing better to do in their perfect horsy world, than 2 spend hrs on this forum looking for a post they know a whole lot more on than the posted member themselves! Not all dealers are BAD(i hav never said that,i know sum grt ,honest dealers who wudnt think twice to have a rearer, lame horse back.) Just because you try a horse once and buy it,does NOT mean ur a div when uv been around horses most your life.Ive sold horses and wud NOT let a potential buyer take horse away from yard to try, theres a risk of injury to horse&rider, let alone a waste of time from non-buyers .I wasnt wanting just to return horse as it didnt hack,i cud hav lived with that. The fact it reared, wudnt jump and is lame is the reason im taking dealer to court,.Neither of these things were picked up in vetting,so un-avoidable i think, ive jut been very unlucky! and miss know -it -all,yes u cud get caught out too,as i did and bet ya life ur no smarter or savy than me!!!
grin.gif
glad i dont live in northants!! Sorry but uv p&ssed me off wiv ur negative .bad attitude to someone /somethin u know nothing about.??!Why shudnt we name&shame to save other people the hassle ive gone thro??

This Barry Wright is still selling!!

Oh and wigglypigs,i used a vet in his area (when buying the horse)as its prob 80 miles from my local vet .He is a very silly vet IF he didnt do full vetting with my welfare in mind(i wasnt present). To use my vet was £90 extra in travel as too far.Im not that silly,i had No idea this vet i used was involved(or not??)he prob isnt??who knows, but its odd horse passed with flying colours 4 my purchase, yet has seriously failed 2 further vettings?.as x2 vets have said NO_WAY was horse sound without having drugs in its system. Each test for each 1 sudstance is another £130 ish to have tested from the bloods that were taken on the day .Im not spending another penny on this horse b4 going thro court now,im already 5k down so far!!!

I'm not here to pick a fight, nor throw your experience under criticism.

My only points where:

1. I wouldn't have bought a horse from a dealer having only tried once. My opinion, of which I am entitled to.

2. My query was with the vet used initially, as you said the horse had passed and then subsequently failed 2 further vettings. My thought was that this was would be your first point to get cleared up, which I stated previously.

3. I'm not, nor have ever claimed to be a 'miss-know-it-all'.

4. I never said you couldn't name and shame.

5. I have not called you a 'div'. Niave maybe.

I shall refrain from commenting more. I have previously wished you luck in sorting this out, which I still do.

If you are not going to get the bloods checked then you wont have any evidence at court. Whilst it is annoying having to spend extra money, you will have to show that the horse was drugged, and hence passed the first vetting, as you suggest. Without that proof, then the Court could decide that the horse was fine when purchased and vetted and subsequently developed the problem.

So sorry to hear of your problems - everything is easy in hindsight isn't it. I've been caught out on a horse too despite 5 stage vettings, bloods etc.

I do agree with Merlotmonster that you really must get the bloods checked. I think you are a member of BE so use the free legal helpline or get a mate who is to do it on your behalf!

I don't know how long you have had the horse but I think they are only held for 6 months so you might need to crack on.

Good luck
