Hi,
Trying to keep myself motivated in all this horrid weather and have been reading "How to get horses fit". So now I am looking for somewhere to hire regularly to do interval trot and canter work (not galloping flat out!!). Does anyone know of any all weather gallops I could try? I will have to do all the basic walk roadwork for a few weeks first though. I know Calke Abbey racing stables used to hire theirs out but I think they have all but sold up now and they could be a bit boggy in places. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance x

The ones I know of are in Sherrifhales, the other side of the A5 and about 5 miles from Weston I guess. They're uphill wood chip gallops, really nice.
please pm me if you would like the name of the owner and the 'phone number, as I don't think I should put it on an open forum.

Used to be some just outside Uttoxeter. Anfield Stables I think its called. There's also a livery yard near Stafford thats got a canter track - Ashwood

Is that the Robinsons?? x

I know of some on the Leics/Notts border (prob about 15 mins from the M1 and A50), they are woodchip and on a hill. let me know if you want contact details. :)

We are Very close to Rodbaston and I used these gallops last year (November). Amazingly kept place! Amazing surface - best I have EVER ridden on. It was levelled for us after the racehorses exercise too. All I can say is WOW! People were very nice and helpful too. Maybe too far for you though?? Took me 30 minutes from Brewood in trailer / Landy.
