anyone know of good Boxer dog breeders in the south west?

being more of a cat person i have little experience in buying a puppy but my SIL has just had an upsetting purchase and return of a Boxer puppy which turned out to have a heart murmer which after listening to her story i am certain the breeder knew something was wrong.
i would like to know if it is normal for a KC breeder to sell a puppy full price with no vaccinations or health certificate.
i can only judge by cat breeders i know and they would never do this, also there would be a 4 week insurance in place.

do any of you know of a good breeder of Boxers, she is in Cornwall but happy to travel. she has had 3 before.

Puppies are often sold without health cert or vax. In fact first vax are a bit iffy anyway because you'd most likely need to restart them once registered with your own vet as if they aren't the same manufacturer they won't be considered to be working.
 
Heart murmur's are not always picked up before puppies leave for their new homes. Puppies are usually vaccinated after they have left the breeder, unless I believe a toy breed where they stay with the breeder that bit longer.

Also heart murmur's often resolve themselves, bit like babies!

But can't help with breeder suggestions, sorry :)

manufacturers state this is not an issue and that all vaccs are interchangable-this is a relatively new change though. health cert? not all puppies are supplied with them a new owner should take a new puppy to their vets within 48hrs just for a health check and then if the puppy does not have 4 weeks free insurance the vet can offer it with pet plan as long as there are no health issues then they are covered for everything from that moment on for 4 weeks
 
thanks all of you :) that's really interesting, my only experience with buying a dog as opposed to rescuing is one i bought here and he came with first vaccine, insurance and health certificate .
i was a bit dubious regarding SIL's experience as she was told 3 times that she would have the pick of 2 litters which i thought was odd as there was no previous connection between them and when she arrived all but one puppy were reserved and that one was the smallest.

is it? I wonder if we're up to date on that as a practice as we still advise restarting jabs as far as I know
 
Not all vacs are interchangeable although some are. I always had first vacc & a vet check up before letting any puppy go as it was for my peace of mind as well as for the owner. Kittens alway have a full vaccs course before leaving. Any half way decent breeder can get the free insurance so not having it offered is a bit of a red flag.

Try the breed clubs and follow their leads. They list the health testing that should have been done on all breeding stock.
