Had a generic email off someone who said that they are a college student and that the snec are looking for horses for loan ( Scottish national equestrian centre) . This was a reply to an ad I have online for my boy. Anyone loaned a horse to them or have any info about it?

No the Eq centre is based at the college. http://www.snec.co.uk/

There has been a horse centre there for many years but this facility was moved and upgraded a few years ago.

I have been to Oatridge for agri courses and the old horse centre for pony club camp. I can't comment on the Eq centre as it is now but I find the agri courses rather slap dash and that's various types over the last 10 years.

Beautiful schools! They spent and absolute fortune on building the indoor and they're amazing!

Horse are looked after fairly well but get little turn out. The standard of riding varies hugely, from completely novice sacks of potatoes to very competent riders same as any riding school really. They also do public lessons so your horse may well be used for that.

Some horses hate it (they usually send them back of they're unhappy), some horses don't mind it. Doubt many love it. If your horse is really good an reliable, they will be worked hard and used regularly, which is the curse of being a good boy.

Thank you he is actually a bit of a naughty boy but I think that is mainly due to lack of work so was thinking it might do him good to have a bit of hard work. Not keen on little turnout though, I would expect at least a few hours a day or night hmmm

He'll do less work if he's a bit difficult, but if he's too difficult they won't keep him. He'll get a better standard of rider than if he's a long suffering equine saint.....

You'd need to ask them how much turnout they get. They work a couple hours every day but not sure if they go out daily, esp in winter .
