I'm wondering if anyone on HHO knows this horse, maybe he has turned up on your yard or you've seen him somewhere!

17h (ish) grey TB gelding, by Silver Patriarch out of Trudi Bay, a Terimon Mare.
Registered name Silver Alchemist, I believe he is now known as Archie.

Known to have been through Leominster/Malvern sales in both February and May of this year.

I'm assumeing he's greyed out a lot from the pictures I have but I'll add one. I had him from 2-4, wanted him to make a ladies hunter (in show terms) but he just didn't really grow into the type, all his growing went "up"! He was well shown, won SHBGB classes, placed at National hunter show, hunted with bloodhounds.

I'm guessing from his new identity and catalogue descriptions that this information hasn't really gone with him. Only tracing out of idle curiosity really to see what he's up to (as google hasn't yielded results!). Was a nice enough chap and great fun to hunt but not really my sort of horse, would like to check all is happy in his world though having been through sales twice in a short time.

I know this horse as I own him, he is now known as Silver.

I brought Silver on 13 June 2012 from a dealer who had purchased him from the sales.

Silver is very well loved, lives on a lovely yard and is spoilt rotton and worshiped by me.

We have gone back to basics with his schooling and handling as whoever owned him between you and I, have let him get away with murder.

He was a very quiet horse when I brought him as I am aware he has been passed around through sales etc .. but he is now a character and he loves to be scratched ha ha

Its nice to know what he has done previously and I WILL be having words with him later.

Thanks for posting this and i'm happy to keep in touch

How lovely is that that you've found his new owner! Was feeling really sad readig he'd been through the sales twice in a short time but sounds like he's landed on his feet now :)

And welcome to HHO mellymoo27! He looks a lovely horse.

Thanks for the welcome ;-)

It really is amazing what you can find just by Google Search! I always have a nosey once in a while and it just happened this thread popped up and that it was so recent.

What a small world it is!

I cannot tell you HOW happy this has made me!!

I bought him at 2 from a Newmarket yard, I was told he had been bred to race but too immature so turned away. He was with me a very much loved special horse, but just not quite what I was after in the long run. He is indeed a cheeky character but not nasty or mean - more like a labrador puppy in 17hh form - he was handled daily by my 60something Mum with limited mobility!

I've got a full album of photos from 2 upwards if you want to add me on facebook, if he is still carrying his Wetherbys passport I should be the first registered owner (in Leicestershire) -I boguht him as unnamed and chose the name myself - Silver from the Patriarch side and Alchemist as we thought that would be a good omen, as alchemists make gold etc. Okay, the inspiration was found at the bottom of a bottle of wine but I liked the name! he was known to me as Tarragon, or Mr T.

This is the very large gangly 2/3yo version, he was VERY slow maturing physically, I bet he's a hell of a chunky chap now!

This is my all time favourite photo - he was a 2yo here, only been on my yard a couple of weeks - found him one morning cuddled up to my older boy!

Look forward to hearing back from you, please do keep in touch!

3bh, that last picture is just an all time classic! It has actually brought a tear to my eye, though not quite sure why - must be hormonal!:o

Mellymoo, can you post a pic of what he looks like now?

How lovely to find him 3bh and be able to fill in the blanks for MM :)

OMG Could cry my eyes out, it is my boy and you have made my day also ;-)

I will post some pics later when I figure out how ;-)

I wouldn't say he has filled out as such, but those giraffe legs continued to grow, he is the super model of the horse world. He was underweight when I brought him, not too bad but no muscle and a bit on the thin side. Prob from stress of being passed around, but he is putting his weight back on.

Would love to add you on facebook, and I can assure you he is with me for good and we are going to have lots of adventures together

My horse dentist knew his dad and said he is very much like him.

Blimey, how tall is he now?! I am so so pleased to hear he has landed on his feet. Can't wait to hear about all his adventures!

Well when I went to look at him I was told he was 16.2 hh but when I went into the stable both my friend and I looked at each other and looked UP at him ha ha.

I would say that he is 17hh but all legs!

Good job i'm used to big horses, however after selling my 17hh Irish draught to get some thing 15.2hh - 16.2hh I come home with Silver he he

When I went to try him I rode him out on a hack as they had no school he was soooo well behaved I had to have him!

Ditto other posters - this is such a lovely story! Mellymoo27, welcome to the forum, it looks like you'll have to keep us regularly updated now :D

Ha ha we both said ' no way is he 16'2hh' He looked a HUGE lad in that stable!!

He has fallen on his feet and is looking great.

What a lovely thread, so nice to read this, I know mellymoo has wanted his history since the day we saw him - its lovely that op posted this and we can see pics of him in the past.xxxxxx

What an amazing story:D:D

Is he a good jumper? Have known a few silver partriarch's and they have all been fab jumpers, and generally just all round lovely horses. Most of them were very slow on the racetrack so there are quite a few of them around as allrounders/eventers!

Seabsicuit he has the legs for jumping! at the moment I am concentrating on my flatwork and hacking taking it slowly so not jumped him yet. The people I brought him off had only had him 3 weeks and they were concentrating on feeding him up ready to find him a home so he only hacked with them.

He has been passed around since early in the year been through the sales twice and then to the people I brought him from so it took time for him to find his feet.

Just going to take it nice and steady over winter and have some fun ;-)

Having a rubbish morning but this has made it. I too nearly cried. It's so lovely and he is just so CUTE! Cute, cute, CUTE!

So glad you've found the info you're looking for.

I will post some pictures of him just need to figure out how

Thank you for all the nice comments ;-)

We're suckers for a happy ending. :D

It would be lovely to see some photos of him and read your updates about him. He looks and sounds like such a loved (and loved) boy. How wonderful to hear that he fell on his feet.

I guess we are all just so used to hearing stories that don't have such a happy ending. It makes your heart sing to actually read a more uplifting one. Really lovely.

:D:D:D

(edit to add) He is stunning! What a lovely looking boy. :D

Well I don't know what is wrong with my computer! After reading this thread it seems to be blowing some dust out or something that is making my eyes water.

[walks away wiping away tears muttering something about hormones]
