Hi, just wondered if anyone knows anything about this place

http://www.preloved.co.uk/eu?qs=Jfk...aZynhducrVXGZ4lfFqJsRSKRBgOT3_1De5fPiKROdkVYQ

She says she is a rescue but seems to sell the horses on rather than loaning, and also has a NH livery yard, needs someone to look after her horses (in exchange for a free foal/grazing) but does have 1 horse for loan rather than sale????????????????

A friend is considering buying the 15.3 mare but I think it's a lot considering her condition in the picture.

Despite what they say, they do sound rather dealer-like... one of the advantages to genuine rescue horses from reputable charities is that you always have back-up if something goes wrong. Doesn't say anything about that here - or homechecks either.

I think if I wanted a rescue horse I'd either go to one of the reputable charities, or if I had the time, money and experience I'd go to the sales and get one to rehabilitate myself.

Just my opinion!

Thanks for the opinions. :) My first thought was 'dealer' but I thought I'd ask in case anyone knew them. Personally if the mare is in the condition she's in in the picture (she's the one tied to the lorry, apparently she'd be great for showing  ) then I wouldn't pay more than meat money and she's up for £3500.

Expensive for what they are. Looks nice sort but in poor state and needs tlc could probably get similar for less elsewhere. Don't know them but it reads quite genuine intentionwise. I guess she buys them at sales to 'save' them from meat man or dealers, feeds them up and sells them on to buy more. Should get better feel for how genuine if up friend goes to see it. Personally wouldn't pay over 650 for that mare if it's the little coloured with the dirty mane tied to the lorry. She'll make something nice eventually but potential's not worth the asking price, up friend is considering buying the horse as it is now.

there is no 'seems like dealer' they are dealers. As I understand it a person who sells 3 or more horses in a 12 month period IS a dealer and is answerable to any legislation that regulates horse dealers.

Hum. Looking at the advert they look like dealers, the rescue bit seems to be so that they can avoid the costs and responsibilities of proper dealers; that coloured tied to the lorry is in very poor condition. Didnt look at all the photos BTW. Way too much money too.
bargepole and dont touch with spring to mind

They are most definitely dealers.

The horses are up for sale at full market value, there is no charity in that !

They may honestly believe that they are "saving" horses, and may possibly have good intentions, but they are still horse dealers in every way and I am sure at those prices, money is most certainly made!

The horse your friend is interested in is overpriced in my opinion considering the current market x

Good grief, if they are the best photos they can take, those animals must be in a right state. Poor, undernourished, filthy are words that spring to mind. I can't believe a 'rescue' centre would ever consider rehoming stallions (2 listed on page as for sale), to perpetuate indiscriminate breeding of poor quality animals.

I'd be very wary of any unregistered charity or rescue. Not saying there aren't genuine ones out there but having come across some of them I do think many are dealers under any other name.

The bit that got me was that they "work for free rescuing these horses". Yes you probably do love, and then try to rake it in from emotionally worded tug at heartstring ads for over priced horses.

The piebald looks terrible and both the shire and they possibly the gray (hard to tell from the bad photo) need to put on weight.
Agree with the above, they are dealers regardless of whether they are doing it for the horses or the money, and need to be subject to the correct restrictions.
The shire could look yummy though with some more weight on. Wish I had the money for 2 18.1 shires and not just one. Ah well, such is the cost of elephants...

And goes from two yards to three yards between adverts.

Dealer of course and not a good one looking at the photos & descriptions.

I was particularly taken with the shire too, looks gorgeous, but I don't have the money either :( .

I thought all the horses looked quite poor and thought they were probably dealers but wondered what others thought. Thanks for all the replies, I'll tell my friend to look elsewhere.

Just spoke to OH about this ad as i laughed all the way through it, but then I'm wise enough to be able to take the ad as what it is............. someone else may not be, personally I would email this link to the trading standards office in this area, if they are playing off peoples feelings and gaining money by calling themselves a rescue, then there is an issue. These horses are sold/rehomed and the money from them goes back into gaining/buying/rescuing more horses in order to make money from! (re-wording what the person has said at the bottom of the ad!) basically what a dealer does!!!! Please let your local trading standards office know about this if you are in the area.... am sure they'll be interested!
