Anyone know what a "tongue dummy" is?

This relates to my post in CR, my young horse has started hanging his tongue out and a dressage judge suggested I try a tongue dummy. I suspect it can't be dressage legal but I wouldn't know because I have NO idea what it can be!

Any ideas anyone?

Yes - that's the thing I was thinking of! Look horrible though, don't they? Can't you try a different bit or something, first? Could it be because the horse hasn't enough room for his tongue to be comfy? Maybe a low port would help?

OMG thats horrible! Well it will have to be a major last resort, how will he be happy in his mouth with that on his tongue?

Thanks to both of you, I am going to try a few different bits first.

CotswoldSJ - Mine doesn't get his over the bit, he kind of hangs his tongue out. I have ordered a Myler comfort snaffle from their bit bank - I can send it back if it doesn't work. Might be worth looking into the one you have.

Did yours do a similar thing?

Friends horse does the same she sticks her tongue out the side of her mouth, she was recommended the Myler comfort snaffe, hasn't done any good though!!

Jen1 - just found a tongue dummy in the local tack shop and tbh it doesn't look quite as bad as I thought. Going to try the bit method first though.
Has anything worked on your friend's horse?

No she hasn't tried anything else tongue dummy would be the cheapest route to try at first or a bit bank I suppose, good luck! Horse does look a bit 'gormless' though when we hack out with this huge pink thing just lolling from the side of her mouth! Always seems to do it to the right side???
