If you actually want to see the test ridden just type the Dressage Test (e.g Prelim 10) into youtube. There are loads of people doing their tests on there. If this is your first with canter, stick to the Prelims. Have fun!

Prelim is the lowest level with canter in it. Generally the lower the number of the test the simpler the test is e.g. Test 4 is simpler than test 18 (sometimes this depends on what you horse is good at). In Prelim 14 you have to do a trot - walk 2-5 steps - trot transition which really tests how supple over the back you horse is and also you have to give and retake the reins in trot on a circle neither of which you have to do in Prelim 10. So P10 may be a bit easier for your first prelim.

All tests can be bought off the British Dressage website individually or as a folder with all current tests (get the ones with diagrams) or in tack shops and you can also get DVDs of most of the Prelim tests and test learning CDs. Probably the best thing to do to get a feel for them is to go to watch them at a local venue. If you are competing there it also helps to get an idea of how long you will be in the ring before the bell goes, where the entrance A is which really helps when you get there on your own horse. Good luck and have fun - hope its your first of many
