Anyone leaving their horses out tonight?

I left mine out last night - was v mild. Fields are stil v muddy though so it's got to be an occasional treat (they don't want to come in anymore!) for a few weeks again!

No not yet, even in Sunny Maine et Loire.

We are starting to harrow fields and reseed poached areas plus cleaning and bedding field shelters. Half the yard will go out next week. The others a week later.

Have moved to summer grazing so in at night in case of lami :), though ideally they'd be out at night in during day, but i want them to feel some sun on their naked backs !

Ours have been out for a week now - they are still in the winter fields which are now dried up but little grass, so are getting haylage a couple of times a day. Plan to move them early next week onto the summer fields once the haylage has been used up.

Then on with the harrowing and rolling next week.

Just do it - they will thank you for it and just think of the lie in you can have tomorrow morning!

Mine are out at night all yr, in during daytime.
Works great as routine always the same. Plus I get lie in.
atm on section of mud I mean field, with large hardcore feed area of adlib hay in a feeder

Yes first night out, I have been lucky and field is bone dry and green although gateway is awful. Tbf when they are "in" they have yard, arena and field shelter so not massively different. Deciding factor was grass coming through, better weather but also I need to keep eye on their weight so have cut down Haylage as they can pick at grass, whereas if in they cause havoc if they don't have enough (AdLib forage) Oh, and they are now unrugged unless weather deteriorates massively.

Mine are our 24/7 anyway but tonight two are naked! The 22 year old is crazy hairy, very thick coat and he's itchy now, and the rising five has a decent enough coat, although the youngest is still rugged. Although the temperature is dropping it's forecast to be seven degrees and dry, and beautiful tomorrow!

Mine too. First night out for ages. Lets hope it continues.

Yay and Amen to this!!

Mine had to come in when the weather got so wet simply because their field got like a swamp......... I have my own place so trashing the field is my problem not someone else's!!! :)

Hopefully we'll be able to put some sheep out in the field with them in the near future, so that will do the pasture a lot of good.

I was tempted, but when I was there at 7pm.
Both boys were stood watching me and waiting to.come in, they came straight over when I went in the field.

The ground is still quite wet and there isn't loads or grass. Both bring tbs need plenty of feed.

So np problem them coming in.
Few more months for a lie in.

No, not yet. I did leave them out as late as possible though.....they were loitering in earnest at the gate & I was being shouted at by them to 'hurry up & get us in!!'

No, fields are too wet. They have been in at night since September. They are now both rugless day and night. Hopefully it won't be many weeks until I can swap them to in during the day and out at night.

I think mine will stay out tonight, it is so warm and our fields are dry (we're very lucky). Will put some hay out for him and he will be happy :)
