anyone live near scamblesby louth ?

Hi
dont live too far away and used to ride regularly at the yard there. Great local off road hacking, lots of fields and hlils and quiet lanes and only 20mins/half hour by box to the beach. :)

We regularly go to race (motorbikes) round Cadwell Park (its a car/bike circuit ;) ) - and on the way there we do see quite a number of horses/ponies in fields in the Scamblesby area, also a number out on the roads (which mostly all seem to have lovely wide - proper wide - verges).

They have two local cross country courses in the area - Withcall and Hallington. There's also Kenwick Park which I think is an equestrain centre. There's usually a fair amount of events throughout the year there, like show jumping and dressage. xx :)

Some fabulous rides, and you arent too far away there from some decent equestrian places, Kenwick park, Hallington X-country (beautiful valley setting) Caistor Equestrian Centre to name but a few....

Up in Caistor, North Lincs RC holds two pleasure rides there twice a year, they are awesome!

Safe to say, lots of horsey people about! I'm north of Lincoln, but often box up and go into the Wolds when I can.

They also hold a good unaffiliated X-Country at Swallow too....

...and Charlie Hoods at Grange-de-Lings! AMAZING course to rent, however, that is where I had a bad fall, resulting in a severely broken ankle and nearly a year before I could walk again! xx :)

My Dad has lived in Tetford near Scamblesby for approx 15 years. I live in the fens and visit him regularly.

It is wonderful horse country. Where I am in the Fens the hacking is awful. Where he is (approx 3 miles from Scamblesby) is beautiful, have a look at the OS map for the hacking! From what he says there is a big horsey social scene. Even driving around I have seen people having a nice canter on the lovely WIDE flat verges (stamps feet not fair)

My horse lived with my Dad for a year when I was at Uni and he went on holiday livery to a yard in Scamblesby and I rode there from my Dad's it wasn't far at all. Unfortunately I had lost interest in riding at that time and so kept my horse as a pet so really only hacked him out once or twice there...

I keep telling my Dad if my personal circumstances change so I can up sticks and leave the Fens that my horses and I will be moving in. Failing that as soon as I am able I will take them up there for a fortnight to eat his grass and use that wonderful hacking (with hills!)

I forgot to say, in amongst the many bridleway rides, theres one that takes you along the bottom of a valley, through a few gates (always open! well, when I have been.....!) and it's perfect for a good old gallop! Will have to get the OS map out and find with bit it is......
