I have a yearling colt looking for a new home he was dumped along with another two year old pony on the sand dunes near me so being a big softy i took them both in about a month ago.
I'm keeping the two yr old but looking for a good experienced home for the baby he's a lovely bay very long legs probably standing at about 12hh now ans should make about 13hh quite nervous still but hes getting there! I have no idea where he came from and he's not passported would love to keep them both but have too many others so cannot spend the time with him that he needs! He's not a heavy hairy type i think he may be a sec b or sec b partbred and i'm sure he'll make a lovely riding pony when he's older.
If anyone is intersested please get in touch he will only go from me when i find a suitable home don't want any money just a loving home x

Thankyou couldn't leave them there could i just can't believe anyone could do it the two yr old had such severe sunburn on his face he was covered in blisters but now recovering nicely just looks a bit odd cos his face is bald now!
 
Oh the poor things, that poor 2 year old with bad sunburn.
Well done you for taking them in and giving them a chance. Im afraid i cant help by offering a home....but

Whereabouts in the country are you?

You will need to get him passported and microchipped before anyone takes him - it is illegal to travel a horse without a passport when it is going to a new home, and "if" you get caught (!) it could cost you a £5000 fine. I believe it is also now illegal to buy and sell horses without passports?

Hope he finds a fab home. I REALLY wish i could... :)
 
hmmm as you don't actually own the horse its just been squatting at yours for a few weeks and you are not taking any money for it is it really selling ??.... just a thought I was pondering

I know got the vet coming in a couple of weeks for annual jabs so will sort passports and chips when she comes for them!! Not looking forward to the bill but someone needs to look after them and i just couldn't turn them away but if someone wants to give the baby a good home before then it would be fab. Already cost plenty getting some weight back on them as they were so skinny when they came worth it though when you see them starting to trust you and running around like loons bucking and farting!! love it!!x
 
Firstly its not illegal to buy a horse without a passport. It IS to sell or give one away without a passport.
To cover all bases, when you found them, did you report to any authority that you had found them and now had them in your care? (just in case they were stolen from somewhere else, or escaped)
You might also want to say what part of the country you are in.
And have you thought about a welfare organisation like WHW? If they were to take him in, he would be assessed and eventually placed with a family capable of dealing with his needs. It would give him an excellent grounding for his future.
 
Fair enough Joeanne, my mistake. However, you do need one to move a horse to a new home. So he needs one before he is taken away, unless the new owner is prepared to risk a fine.

Not wanting to start a debate about the rights and wrongs of passports. However, it IS law, and I choose to comply with that. Just making the point.

OP, whereabouts are you? May help someone to make their mind up if you are not too far away from them :)
 
OOPs didn't want to start a debate!! I'm in Porthcawl South Wales and yes i called the police , council, RSPCA and numerous animal sanctuary's then started on the local studs to see if they'd lost any or been offered any but no and no animal welfare could take them the only advice they could give me was leave them there or keep them or find a home for them if none of these put them down and that definatley wasn't gonna happen!!!

Does anyone know if you would need to passport a pony if passing it on to WHW after you found it ? If so that would really put a dampener on taking in a stray ! it's a lot of ££ to fork out for being kind !

OP If I was you I would sell him put him on for a reasonable price and see how it goes. People who are actually looking for a pony of is type could find him then. If you felt uncomfortable taking the cash I'd cover your costs then donate the rest to a charity:-)
 
i know what your saying but i know i can be really picky if no money changes hands if a buyer has money ready it makes it abit awkward???
Dave doesnt need to go anywhere if i can't find the right home i'll just struggle on as i have been.
Not sure about the passport i'd of thought so as you can't move a horse/pony without having one x
 
Thanks for everyones well wishes Dave has gone to a lovely new home yesterday to keep Charlie the 6yr old TB company untill hes ready to further his education Home for life !!! i'm sooooooo happy!!! xx
