I used to ride a school horse that would do this if she thought the hack we were on was too long! Could do nothing but laugh the first time she did it as it was so sudden and unexpected!

My mare used to do it at the same point every time we went on a hack. Unfortunately it was on a grass verge next to a busy junction... Not very embarrasing!!
