Hi

Off to hartpury in september for HE with my horse. Looking in to hiring transport as I do not want to trail her up there. Live in West Sussex and was just wondering if anyone knew of any good transport companies or is looking to share costs on taking horses up there?

Hi, i've got a friend going to Hartbury in September with her horse. She doesn't have transport so she may be interested in sharing the cost of a transport company? She is in Horsham.

Thanks for that. Would it be possible to have her details so I could contact her about this. Have already got a couple of quotes that are quite reasonable if costs are split. Thanks

bit off subject, but Iv decided to go next year and was wondering where your all going to keep the ponios? I dont think we could deal with all the rules on the main yard (ie always having to be tied up in the stable, hat gloves rules ect.) so I have been looking at the maisemore (sp) and wondered if it was anymore relaxed or anyone recomend a cheapish DIY yard around the area; have got a car so where it is not a prob :)

There are hundreds of reasonable DIY yards around. The maisemore one is definately more relaxed than the main yard but is still run by Hartpury. There is one literally up the road from the main yard which is supposed to be very good and very cheap, but it is normally pretty full. The yard I was on is 10mins drive from hartpury in Upleadon. Then there is one Ashleworth way which is full of students and again reasonable costs. There is another one in Maisemore if you turn right up the lane before the pub and there is another really nice one in Ashleworth which is normally full. I could give you directions but I don't have a contact number! There are literally loads more but those are the main ones students normally go to

could you give some names out, so i can google away please :) Ive got a whole year so I can always get in there early, if poss book a stable for sept? Im looking at about £30 a week, but will pay more if everythings included (Im paying for her myself) :)

Most of them won't be on the internet - more word of mouth type of thing! Your best bet is to plan a day to go up and drive round a few. Also, when you go up, there there are always ad's up in countrywide and hartpury saddlery.
The first Ashleworth one I was talking about is this one http://www.greathouselivery.co.uk/

The one I was on was called Leadon stables. That was £150 a month including adlib hay/haylage + some bedding. The one just up the road from the college is owned by a lady called Audrey Brewer. There are loads more around, but as I say, I very much doubt you'll find them on google!
