winter?
No flies
No hot sweaty horses
No hot muggy evenings
No rock hard ground
No too dry too deep schools
No dust
No dried out cracked hooves

But.........
Warm cosy beds
Hot toddies
Clean clipped horses
Lovely moist schools
Lovely soft ground
Able to do canterwork
Lovely crisp autumn mornings
Beautiful autumn colours
Hot breath on cold air
Horses fresh and wanting to work

Can't wait.

Absolutely! No more sweet-itch, no more midges! Bliss! Only draw back is mud - especially if like me you have a horse that is not rugged during the winter months!! I am seriously considering rugging mine though this year just so that I don't have the mud to deal with!

We Brits are never happy!! lol

not me.

autumn yes, but winter definitely no!

heavy, sodden, cold turnout rugs
trying to avoid touching icy water (makes washing bits etc tricky!)
sludging through muddy field entrances
your feet nearly cracking when you jump off after an icy hack
(dare I say it) snow - ruining any riding possibilities for weeks on end
smashing the ice on water troughs

etc etc

and we don't even have it that bad!

Completely Agree. x

Autumn - yes, bring it on...

Winter - brrrrrr, no thanks - that feeling of letting go of the reins and your hands are still attatched.... and (i have a lot of Bambi moments) slipping on ice all over the yard... and just general coldness and miserableness...
