Anyone near Beaconsfield?

I used to live in Haslemere years ago now and used to go to Penn Tack and Feed. For the life of me I cannot remember the name of any yards around there tho. It's a beautiful area though, I loved it. Good luck with the move!

I live in Wycombe. There's a tack shop in Beaconsfield Old Town, Penn Feeds at Penn, Widmer Feeds at Lacey Green (Big tack and feed store).

Competition centres Widmer Equestrian Centre, Pyatts Farm Livery, BCA (College) All have websites.

Local riding clubs. High Wycombe, South Oxfordshire, Naphill.and probably more.

Livery - can give you details of some in the Wycombe / Naphill area but not sure around Beaconsfield. Lots in the Penn / Seer Green/ and Chalfont areas. Have a look at Chiltern and Thames Rider magazine website. You can view the latest classifieds on line without paying.

I live near Beaconsfield.

Tack shops I use are:

The Horse house - Ducks hill, Middlesex
Norton and Newby - Beaconsfield, Old Town
The isle of Wight Farm (horse feed) - Gerrards Cross
Chalfont Saddlery - Chalfont

I am not sure of livery stables in Beaconsfield but know of some close by, depends on type of livery you are after?

Berkshire College of Agriculture is very good I know a few friends who have horses there. Students ride your horse, amazing facilities too

Thanks all, I will have to work out how to save this thread (any ideas??) I'm new :o

Hmmm, I won't want other people riding my horses!

I will be looking, ideally, for a small DIY yardwith good hacking and an arena.

yes am also near beaconsfield. Also check out Catlips - great for 2nd hand and very reasonably priced. Horse house is very good for advice, and friendly too.

ive recently joined thames valley RC and High Wycombe RC - both seem quite good.

Lots of hards around, check out Chiltern and Thames rider, or google locally.

Hello! I'm just outside Beaconsfield in Wooburn Green - don't suppose you'd like to buy a house would you :) ours is for sale moving less than a mile down the road as we love it here!
How close to beaconsfield do you need to be yard wise? Our yard is exactly what you are after, altho the one downer is hacking isn't amazing. However we travel to better hacking most weekends esp in winter to Windsor. Our hacking is a bit road based. Really friendly yard with easy going crowd tho. Technically no space atm but space can often be made :) . I know most of the yards in the marlow direction from Beaconsfield.... Hacking is better if you go out Penn way don't know as many yards that way. Happy to PM you what I know of any yards recommended to you!
Tack shops - TBH aren't many! I use Penn Feeds for feed and basics, they also deliver, we also get bulk delivery of haylage and shavings from Equestrian World who come from Henley. Norton and Newby a little treasure trove but not for bulky items.
Competition centres - endless. BCA (wouldn't livery there personally), Patchetts, Widmer, Windmill, Hammer and Harp (also do livery), Addinton and Merrist Wood not far as motorway links v good. Depends what discipline! Riding clubs, probably Naphill, Chalfont Heights, South Bucks or Thames Valley (I'm on committee for TVRC so can highly recommend, also Digital Angel on here joined recently and she is based over the other side of Beac)

Haha! Hi emma! Spooky eh!!! well you certainly gave the OP a great writeup!

Didnt see you there? We placed (3rd, 4th) , but felt we could have done better - my fault - i had to change his bit back to a DR legal one, and found we lost straight lines and he was falling out out through shoulder a lot. Also found warmup incredibly spooky so he just wouldnt relax - overall am very happy with him though, and test comments were generally very positive :)

Lol can you tell am a bit bored! Never made it there as still not driving post op on Thurs :( but managed to go see ponies today so things are looking up!
Well done tho placings sound excellent! WHere are you off to next? I'm thinking either SORC dressage or Naphill show weekend after next, and rather disconcertingly doing pairs and a rider test (not quite sure how that happenned!) at the area dressage next Sunday - hope back on horse in time for a practice!

Oh you poor thing! i hope you rest up and get better soon!

Hammer and harp are doing informal dressage evenings, next one is the 11th, W&T, prelim and a novice, so ill be doing that, and probably Naphill as well, but am a bit worried as was mentioned to me today that theres a steep hill to get to the showground?

I just need to get my boy out and doing more, id also like to get my mare out, but she wont fit in my lorry :^(

OOh interesting re 11th....do you have a schedule? Could take Roo to that for WT. Naphil show is at West Wycombe isn't it? I'm assuming is on the area they park lorries for the sponsored ride? In which case coming from our end you'd just go straight through middle of wycombe along A40 so no major hills could just stay in valley all the way? Want to go there and jump Mister J for first time in 13 months! Can't wait!
Where are your two stabled now? And how big is mare?

My farrier actually gave me the schedule for H&H - it says on it that info will be on their website but nothing forthcoming yet - its being run by H&H itself, not SBRC so perhaps contact them? thats what i plan on doing anyway hee hee! Their first one was this friday just gone - not quite enough notice for me!

In regards to NapHill - never been there before, so no idea! i just looked at the website for west wycombe estate tho, and no equestrian facilities mentioned - so im guessing dressage must be on grass, in which case ill have to give it a miss!

My mare is a wiiiide 15.3 - i think she would do well in WH classes/similar, but she has a capped hock.. anyway shes built like a brick sh*thouse lol!

Yeah dressage will be on grass. Will have a look at schedule again but fairly sure thats where it will be....so if dressage on grass no good then probs not the one for you! SORC Have dressage day before (12th?) at rosehill again? If you find aschedule for Hammer and Harp could you forward? Def interested with RooPoo for walk trot!
Oh then she'd fit in my truck with bags of space, thought you might have something huuuugeee from post but just remembered you have little ruck don't you? If ever want lift anywhere if I'm going nearby just shout. Mine will take up to about 17hh and width not really an issue, friend's mare I was competing over winter is literally the widest thing I have ever sat on and she goes in any of the three spaces no problem. Its much roomier than my old beddy and I sold that to a lady in HWRC with two Shire X and they fitted in there fine.

Oh and re the capped hock - give local shows a try maybe? Mare above dishes like a trooper and still places in local WH classes - reckon WH a lot more forgiving if they'll jump well!

omg! thats so sweet of you! yes looks like Naphill not so suitable.. am going to have to think about Rosehill again - to be fair to him though, first time out in 6 months and first time at the venue i think he did OK - My mare - She does jump lovely, so i think would do well at local level only. Shes done dressage before though and i know she would do well in that, its just a case of getting her fit now!! But i think she will be fit enough to do a WT test in a few weeks so will definitely keep your lovely offer in mind thanks!!!

Yes will call email H&H tomorrow and ask for schedule definitely and let you know!!!

Naphill riding club show is on West Wycombe Estate. It is in a field so the dressage is on grass. The field is on the A40 in the valley bottom so no hills. I think your informant is probably confused because the actual village of Naphill is up a steep hill.

Thanks Spider thats where I thought it was. Now whether to go to the show or the One Day event at Hammer and Harp..... so glad to be jumping again!

I'm going to be living just to the east of Beaconsfield. Any one with livery info, please could you PM me? I'm going down in a few weeks to have a look at yards, I'm glad there are plenty of competitions going on :)

Snowball Farm is also quite near to Beaconsfield. I don't know the yards out that way very well - the only one I can think of is Jennings farm which is on that side of Burnham. No idea if it is any good though.

Jennings is good apparently although not suited to everyone - I believe they charge to use the hose?! Op, PM me with any yards you want info on and I will let you know if heard anything good or bad, also digitalangel on here is east of beac I believe? We are west. Hammer and Harp at hedgerley has nice grazing and a lovely school! Not seen actual stables tho!
