dont want meadow head tower farm or morton mains due to certain things

does anyone know of any other places been looking for craig crooks owners number but cant find it

would love something near were public transport can get to if possible please

The yards I know that are in the area are,
Swanston - Opposite side of the bypass from Morton Mains, between Lothianburn and Dreghorn junctions on the bypass. Nearest bus service is Lothian buses numbers 5 and 27 (to Hunter's Tryst), and buses 18 & 4 go along Oxgangs Rd. You would have to walk roughly a mile from the nearest bus stop.

Edinburgh Equestrian, you'd get the 3, 33 or 49 (Lothian - there are other buses too) out to Dalkeith, then a number 40 from Dalkeith which passes EE's entrance. Yard again is a good 10/15 min walk from the bus stop.

Thornton at Rosewell, buses numbers 49 and 31 go to Rosewell. I'm pretty sure the bus terminus at Rosewell is close to the yard entrance. Again, a 5/10 min walk from the bus stop.

Pentland House is at Damhead and is on the 15/15a bus route, but I'm not sure if she still does grass livery. The buses are half hourly and regular on weekdays, but only run from 9am - 5pm leaving Edinburgh and 10am - 6pm on the return journey on Sundays.

Hillhead, you would get the bus out to Dalkeith (Lothian - 3,33,49), then change onto an Edinburgh Coach Lines bus - service 328/329/330 in Dalkeith to get to the yard. The 328/329/330 is not a regular service, especially at weekends, but goes right past the yard entrance and will stop at the end of the drive for you.

Oxenfoord, you would get the Munro of Jedburgh bus service 51/52 (goes to Jedburgh/Kelso) and get off at the first stop in Pathhead. You would then have to walk about a mile back down the main road (bus goes a different way) to get to the yard, which is just off the A68.

There is also Burnside, at the top of Pathhead so you would get the Munro 51/52 again but get off just after Pathhead village. The yard is approx 1 mile off the A68 along a country road.

Mount Skip is near Oxenfoord (it's past Vogrie), but is at least a good couple of miles walk from any bus stop.

Bus timetables and maps can be found on the companies websites (Lothian, Munro of Jedburgh, Edinburgh Coach Lines). I looked, but couldn't find any First Bus services to these areas.

I have friends at all of these yards. :)

No, Tower Farm is within city of Edinburgh. Hillhead of Braid.

OP - I know Swanston and Oxenfoord, rate both of them. Swanston currently has strangles though (but are of course doing everything they can to eradicate it), and also always has a wait list.

Try samuelston livery yard. Bought my mare from there. Lovely place. Friendly. Was checking the tower farm bit as it has towers and is near a farm too haha

just waiting to here back from thornton livery yard as seams the best bet and looks a nice yard altho the horse we were looking at the guy went and sold so still looking

Wouldnt touch Samuelston - A friend was there last year and said people on yard were really nice but wouldnt trust YM one bit. Grass is good in spring/summer but awful in Winter.:(

Never been myself but can only go on what friend said

Heard that oxenford and hillhead are really nice/good:)

Hi everyone,

I desperately want to contact Damhead livery to enquire about keeping horses there - does anyone know of their contact number?

I cannot seem to find anything online!

Thank you
