I'm a definate fanatic but unfortunately not an owner just yet, I am looking and looking but unable to find my dream horse. Where did you find your mare? Was she already in england?

She was british bred. I actually found her from an add in H&H.
Was so lucky to find her
I also have a homebred out of a welsh mare!!. Although he is a gelding.
Try these if you are looking for one, they have some already in England but also do trips to Spain frequently to look for the right horse for you. http://www.st-pirans-stud-spanish-horses.com/
Hi They are wonderful horses arent they -
My mare is a PRE x - well on her papers she says full PRE but not registered and my gelding has a PRE brand, but he was a rescue so don't know his breeding at all.
They both came from Spain (where i used to live) and i moved them with me to Bulgaria last year.
They are both around 25 years old and i love them.
My gelding is now fully retired, but my mare is going strong and one of the best rides i've ever known.
I just got myself an ex-racehorse which i have always wanted but my next dream is to have PRE stallion.
I don't know how to post images on here but you can see photos of them in my album on the NR forum (same user name)
I love Iberians, we have three at the yard where I work (a PRE mare, a PRE X Arab gelding, and a Luso stallion) and they were the ones that started off my obsession. I did work, briefly, for North Farm Andalusians (now Meadows PRE) and rode some lovely horses (still do when I go back for lessons!)
I went to the BAPSH show at Hartpury at the weekend too - heaven
I have three PRE mares, one british bred, one spanish bred and one I bred myself - I have been into them for about fifteen years now and would not have anything else.
Black_Jack, the PRE crosses really well with the hano, you get a very good sports horse from the cross.
It really depends on how stocky the parents are, there are stocky PREs and lighter types too, one thing I would say though is, try and choose a stallion who is not a hothead, they are extremely sensitive and so is the hano, if you get the mix wrong you could have a headcase on your hands!
As to being to type, there are miriad combinations of partbred out there but they all seem to have the stamp of the spanish on them. Years ago I very very nearly bought a partbred which was danish warmblood cross - it was absolutely stunning but it did have some quirks and was sensitive - I ended up buying my first purebred instead.
I have bred a couple of partbreds from my Anglo Arab mare (the spanish call these Tres Sangres) that is a fab cross and makes for a very good sports horse, interestingly, both the ones I bred were destined for dressage but both were natural showjumpers and would have much preferred that career!
PS: Sorry I called you Black_Jack and you are Black_horse - blame my old eyes!
yeah delicia is quite a sensitive mare, she is a nice type of hanovairan but you can see the TB influence in her so would be looking for a more stocky, level headed stallion. Delicia is black, dam was bay and father black so prob would end up with a bay or black horse. Im breeding for my next horse
. Bless her she will hopefully breed me a spanish cross, a coloured sports horse to sell and a foal out of unbeliveable darco to sell.
I adore Unbelievable Darco, he has such a good head on him and is also multi talented - I would even send one of my spanish mares to him I like him that much!
There is a lovely dark bay stallion in hampshire, well known for passing his calm temperament on, he is fairly small at about 15.3 but super horse and might suit your mare.
Delicia is spanish for delicious you know - spooky!
lol.....yep that is my mare...was our first time at the breed show soooooo over the moon with her...did u see her? Have just been looking through the pics of the show...
