I do love them

Always thought when I finally get to buy a horse this summer after uni (YAY) That I would go for a more Irish sports horsey type.
However after loaning a rather quirky (but lovely) Arab x New Forest mare who looked more like a pure Arab than new forest pony!
And a young Arab x Appaloosa gelding who looked a bit like a Welshie!! I have fallen in love with them

My instructor also owns a very nice Anglo Arab.

Just want to hear your views as them as competition horses, I know of the famous ones e.g. Tamarillo etc and any pics of yours.

I have come to the conclusion that I love Arab crosses, and very comfortable rides too

Half breds.
All out of the same arabian mare (CAHR) by palomino stallions. The bay and chestnut are full siblings, the palomino was by a different sire.

Whippletree Stud are crossing Arabs with Cleveland Bays - Heather (owner) has kept one for her endurance horse and says it is the best she has bred.

I have a ShagyaxCb due in a month.

I had an Anglo last summer, stunning,a little quirky but great fun,She is going to be a brood mare now, as her lines are very valuable.

He's a great jumper, fab cross country and this year we're going to do some endurance rides / Le-Trec. The arab in him means he can just keep going for hours ... like a little duracel bunny!

Not anymore sadly - but 25+(!) years ago I had an anglo arab gelding, 15.2hh. He was four when I had him, and we really learnt together. He took me to RC Eventing Open Championships (1st team, 1st individual) Pony Club Eventing Champs, Wylie Junior Three Day and on to complete Chatsworth 3 day and lots of advanced one days. He was also a Grade B showjumper. Hardly had a day lame sick or sorry.

He had fantastic paces and presence and always did a great dressage. He was also really brave across country.
So, although these days I would probably rather have a full TB, Anglos can be absolutely top class.

I must get some photos of him scanned in!!

DizzyKizzy, your girl looks just like my mare, Tikka, she is Arab crossed with welsh (probably). She is now 24 and I got her when she was 4. She has been my horse of a life time, really good fun.
This is her a few years ago, shes also in my sig and avatar

My first pony was an Arab x, without him I would wouldn't know what I do now.

He was left in a field, without anyone and you could see his ribs from a distance!! He wouldn't let me near him and it used to take 3 hours to bring him in, but as soon as he clicked that I was not going to leave him he became my best friend!

He was so, fun to do anything with and has made me the rider I am now!! He gave me 3000% and was 20years old, but he thought he was 2years old!!!

Love him still!!!

Picture was only about 5 months after I got him, so still looks a little unloved!

This is my rising six year old, Ari. He is an Anglo Arab (58%) and when our other gelding (PRE X) retires, we will be buying another. As you can see, he is the one in my signature!

He's a lovely boy but god is he a drama queen!

My favouritest horse in the whole world (mine included
blush.gif
) was an angloarab. Difficult and quirk but I'd have bought him in a heartbeat. He was PTS a good few years ago at a ripe old age

I'm on my iPhone so don't know how to upload pics:( I have an Anglo Arab and I too thought I'd get something a bit more 'sensible' he is quirky but has proven to everyone that he and I work!

He's the boy in my sig, horse of a lifetime for me!

My little AA mare (Crabbet lines), she's only 15hh and is a lovely allrounder with springs in her heels.

Making PreNovice look oh so easy:

Ginga 1/8 Arab (7/8 welsh C) Done everything low level very well (prelim dressage, 2'6 jumping, regional driving trials) but never going to set the world on fire
