Anyone own Ardennes..??

He's very variable under saddle...tho he's not ridden that much any more. Some days he is the perfect plod, not a foot out of place, and sometimes he grows from his modest 15hh to about 19hh and feels like he's going to explode at the slightest thing! Luckily agility is not his strong point...!!
I've not ridden him for about 18months but his mum takes him for plods around the village (I'm just his Aunty!). She text me today to say he's definitely realised it's spring now!

We have a shirexTB - he's 17hands and built like a brick outhouse, but is as gentle and kind as they come and totally uncomplicated!(Some might say simple!!!)

I have a mare version of this. She is the best horse in the world and I love her to bits. However although she is kind and gentle I would never describe her as uncomplicated!!
My friends refer to her as being a Thoroughbred trapped in a shires body. She is as fast as a TB and will jump anything. She is very sensitive and my instructor tells me in code to go faster as she is so clever she does it without me telling her. When schooling I just 'think' about going faster rather than give any aids. Having said that I would have another (she is now 23 - not that anyone has told her that.)

I too like heavies and think the Ardennes look interesting - not so far to fall generally but still strong horses. Or a percheron... or a suffolk punch...

Saw these on dragon driving - 18.3hh!!
