Stable Yard
First Class Stabling Facilities

We have 24 stables (external and internal) within our Kelso yard. All the up to date stables have rubber flooring and rubber sides. The rubber has recently been added to every stable to ensure comfort and safety for your horse/pony whilst in transit and our care. We feel the rubber flooring and sides reduces the risk of infection due to the constant cleanliness. All stables are fitted with automatic water drinking bowls, but additional water buckets are used to monitor horses/ponies water intake. We also have 4 small turnout paddocks and 1 claydon playpen. Our paddocks are post and rail with electric fencing to enable horses/ponies to stretch their legs whilst in transit if need be. We have a specially designed loading ramp to ensure the safety of your horse/pony whilst being loaded and unloaded.

Due to the restrictions on drivers hours and the welfare of horse/pony we have numerous stabling facilities all over the county to allow us to keep within the law and this also reduces the stress of ravelling a long distance. We have made this a company policy for a stress free journey.

All stabling points whether it be a stud, equestrian centre or other approved lairage yards are carefully chosen by the family for their cleanliness, safety and security and only the very best are used. No matter where our vehicles are in the country, they are always within reasonable reach of one of these stabling yards.

Sometimes they have the honour of transporting famous horses. One of these being the racehorse "Attraction", record breaking thoroubred filly owned by the Duke of Roxburgh. They also have the pleasure of transporting Queen Elizabeth II's own Highland ponies throughout the country. They have, however, moved every shape and size of horse and pony from the 24" Falabella to the 18.2 hand Clydesdale, right down to ILPH "Sparky", the rescue Shetland, who now lives with them. Even the occassional dog or puppy, which is an extra service that the Gillies provide. So you never know who or what your horse may be next to if the Gillies move your horse. Ask the driver - I'm sure they will have a few stories to tell.

I'm definitely an Eric Gillies' fan. Two of the three they have transported from Somerset to Scotland for me in the last eighteen months were only two years old. Can't fault them - they kept me up to date from collection to delivery and the horses arrived looking completely happy and unstressed considering the length of the journey. Very fab lorries too!

Friends of mine used C&C (as above) to transport a pony they bought in Blackpool to the North East and they were thrilled with the service. The owners were a bit unsure of how the pony would travel so the transport company took a calm companion pony of theirs along for the ride to ensure the new pony was calm and settled on the journey- they found the service fantastic and really sung their praises. The lorries are very swish too, see them quite a bit driving round here

We used Blue Rose (Lancashire) to bring our lad up from Herefordshire to Cheshire and they were lovely with him. 01995 601819

I've used Eric Gillies twice, one for a horse and one for a Shetland pony.
Both were part of shared loads, and were well looked after.
They do a lot of racehorse transportation so will be used to Thoroughbreds / youngstock
I would definitely recommend them, only thing i'd ask is number of stop offs etc as they may be in and out of the lorry if there are a number of pick ups.
Good luck, also Google horse transport, there's some dedicated websites out there

C&C sound ideal I'll give them a ring tomorrow. I have used Eric Gillies in the past and they are fab but in this case I would prefer to use a more local independent company as my 2 youngsters are with different breeders (the second one to be picked up on the way back from Cumbria).
