Quick overview - I was asked to represent the RC team at the area qualfiers - then, having made all the necessary arrangements, I was told that 'some one else' (a friend of the organiser) wanted to do it, and I had to stand down... I kicked up a fuss (don't mind not being selected, but it is bad etiquette to ask someone, then a few weeks later say 'we don't need you, someone else wants to do it and she is my friend so she is doing it') and spoke to the chairman etc, who apologised for the behaviour of the selector (yet she is still the selector...???).
So, get my copy of the RC newsletter today, and guess what... the person who it was so important to get on the team, was then disqualified because her horses vaccinations were not up to date!! Had she not been disqualified the team stood a bloody good chance of qualifying (the scores were pretty low for the test I would have done, and I have recently done the same test at another venue and scored a higher % than the winner). I am not saying it would have happened again, but it has made me angry that the selector did not even bother to check the vaccinations of the 'team' horses.
Well, I guess at least something good came out of it all in the end (our new local riding club
) but it just goes to show what a shambles our local club is!
