Anyone ride in a jump saddle 24/7?

I bought my horse a year ago and soon after had a jump saddle fitted too him as my plan was to be out jumping/eventing. After finding out he actually had a weak stifle and a summer and months of rehab I then got a second hand GP at the end of last summer as wanted to feel a bit more secure as he can be very sharp. However now he's up and going properly with more schooling etc he's changed shape so much that the GP no longer fits and has caused him to be very sore over the last couple of weeks (I knew something wasn't right). So I still have my brand new jump saddle that I've used about 6 times hacking which my physio (who is also about to take her exam for a saddle fitter) said the jump saddle would work with the right pad/prolite under etc and am going to get booked in properly to have it fitted correctly again but if buying another new saddle isn't feasible I will have to get used to riding in a jump saddle again and learning to feel secure! Does anyone else ride in one as their only saddle? Ideally i want to get another second hand or decent GP/Jump if I can - soemthing with a good seat and knee rolls! The jumps saddle I have is a Bliss Loxley.
 
Me! We get some funny looks at BD in a jump saddle and stud girth, but it works. Didn’t take too much getting used to, but I can’t have my stirrups as long for dressage as I used to. But I find my balance is still good and our marks are still improving.

I did used to have a dressage saddle but he changed shape and I could only afford to replace one of them. Decided I’d much rather do dressage in a jump saddle than XC in a dressage one! 😂
 
I do, i have a Prestige and use it for hacking, schooling, not much jumping as we dont really do that anymore. However it is a flocked one and it can be adjusted so can be changed as she changed shape.
When i had to do rehab, i actually ended up doing a lot of it in a bareback pad as she was changing shape a lot, still ride in it a lot now!
 
Mine is a young riders/ pony saddle as it was just what fitted us both best and its supposedly a GP that can be used for jumping but realistically it's a jump saddle. I can't have two saddles unless someone is very nice to me for my birthday so I just cope 😂
 
I used to.

I went from preliminary to elementary unaffiliated dressage in Jefferies Falcon event saddle.

Never had the luxury of a dressage saddle.
 
Thanks everyone! I used to ride in a jump saddle regularly on my last mare and did get used to it and may have to do the same with this one but I do feel perched and as he is sharp and an spin on a sixpence I don't always feel too secure but saying that I've probably ridden in it no more than 6 times hacking about and that was about a year ago!
 
I do. Both my horses only have jump saddles. They hack, school, jump and compete ( even dressage) in them.They fit the horses really well and I don’t particularly like riding in dressage saddles and GPs are neither one thing or the other. I event and am usually the only one in the dressage phase in a jump saddle but I don’t care

Hopefully your tree really fits, is it a proper flocked panel? I'm sure Loxleys are, they're absolutely not French close contact (part of Bliss of London), that's for sure. It's good to know all these things, and more, about your own saddle :)

I don't really see the point of sniping at Birker about this.

The clue is in the name, the Jeffries Falcon EVENT saddle. They are certainly cut for eventing all 3 phases eventing at the lower levels, dressage, show jumping and XC.

I have a friend who, many years back now, did all the big prestigious Advanced 3 day events in one saddle.

Well the Event I rode in in 1995 was most definitely cut as a jumping saddle and B may well be talking about a similar generation of Falcon Event. If you look at second hand ones the older ones are much more forward cut than new ones. There is simply no point in picking at B in this way, anyone who wants to know exactly how an Event is cut today can look it up.

I have 3 saddles, a working hunter show saddle, a GP and a jump, I can and have jumped in all three but only one of them is a jump saddle.
 
I used to yes! It kept me really secure. I also used to event my other boy in an albion k2 and rode in the same saddle for all three disciplines. I think it used to be more common it’s only these days people seem to need a different saddle for every discipline!
