yep rugged 24/7 (as fully clipped
currently in mediumweight turnout (220g) and light/med weight stable (150g) as our stables are sheltered and really warm
Prior to clipping they wore lightweight turnouts in the field and stable sheets overnight unless it was really hot
My TB is as she is starting to drop off whilst her coat is changing - she was a skinny minnie in the summer as well so has been rugged for quite a while.
She ranges from a no fill sheet with neck, to a half neck MW (about 200g?) and a full neck MW.
Jen has a low trace and has been wearing a rainsheet (she's a porker) and is out 24/7. Theyve just had to move to a more sheltered field with much better grass though so am debating taking it off again
Yes started last week, my ID mare has a no fill sheet on although put her in 100g fill for 2 nights when it was colder a few days ago and my WB is in 100g fill 24/7 now.
I daren't risk on and off with the rugs due to the infrequent rain showers and today although warm is very windy which is cooling.
Yes, have been for a couple of weeks now! They are wearing 250g combos over night, the full TB wears it through the day too and the TB x wears a 100g through the day.
Neither are clipped yet and both in at night. Old lady is in the barn, boy is in the courtyard but old lady is rugged same as the younger horse as she feels the cold. Both are in lightweight stable rugs with necks and 250 grm combos for turnout.
Kia has a 100g on in the stable and a 180g on when out, he has a blanket clip that has nearly grown out already!!, Eowyn has 100g on during the day in stable and a 150g underug on at night under the day rug, she is on box rest follwing her SDFT injury.
My cob was fully clipped 3 weeks ago and is out naked or in a no fill summer sheet. Did have medium weight and neck when we had heavy rain and high winds but now back in light weight no fill. Is out day and night and coat is growing back. Just comes in in the afternoon for some hay a feed and to be ridden.
No
Right now, it is 9 degrees C here with 80% humidity and a wind blowing at 8km/h (don't you just love the phone apps these days ).
My 2yo New Forest filly is out in an 80 acre field with natural shelter all round, on old pasture with other youngsters. She won't be rugged at all this winter.
My 3 1/2yo Welsh D filly, is in a field with sparse grazing, natural shelter on 3 sides and is not rugged as she is obese, (bought her 2 weeks ago), and needs to lose weight. I'm starting to back her now to help with her weight, and she will only get a rug on if she gets down to a sensible weight. She will only wear a light mediumweight at the most IF she needs it .
No! None of mine are rugged yet. None of them have been clipped yet - although they will be soon. So far we have only had one night when it has dropped below 10oC.
Not yet clipped, not yet rugged! Toasty warm armpits Very mild here today and in fact there have only been four horses rugged (not constantly either!) in my gelding's field out of nine.
Temperatures here have yet to drop below 10 degrees (9 degrees on friday and 8 on saturday overnight), but today it's 17 degrees!
No. Have two NF ponies, unclipped and out 24/7 in a field with hedges/walls on three sides. One wet/day night a few weeks ago, they both had lightweight turnout on but that has been it so far. When weather gets cold and wet I shall put 100g turnout on but like to take it off whenever possible (constantly weather watching!). In the depths of winter (below zero temperatures) they have mediumweights on, around 200-250g max. Tend to keep something on them if ground very wet/muddy to try and keep them reasonably clean and dry for riding as we have no stables/facilities.
