Anyone stabled on a very quiet yard?

It would depend on the horse. If I only had one, then I think it might be difficult on a small yard, in terms of turnout/bringing in (unless my horse was happy on its own which I have found very rare). Even with two it can be a bit of a mission to ride before turning both out etc. So I solved this by having 3 horses.

Yup, only 8 at ours and it's great. My sister and I have the only geldings so they are turned out together and are very settled in their little "herd" (both are ridden with other horses and are only separated from the mares by electric fencing so they don't get separation anxiety if you take one of them away). Everyone pretty much does their own thing, some are kept out and some are kept in, but it all works :)

I'm on a tiny yard of only 6 stables, currently with only myself and one other person (and her teenage daughter) there. It's heaven to me - YO is not horsey, so barely see him. It's quiet, no hassle with bitching liveries or things going missing. I just wish it would stay the way it is now and nobody else would arrive!! We've had quite a few people stable there before now who I am glad to see the back of to say the least. Certainly would not want to be on a large livery - the thought of it makes me shudder with horror.

Yes, my own yard with my 2 horses, after years of livery yards, it's bliss!!!
I did worry about having just the 2 but my older boy is ok about being left behind when hacking the other, after lots of repetition ( he is in his stable) and the youngster gets out and about the most. They are great friends but not stupidly so.

What I really love is making my own rules, turnout etc to suit my 2 without having to consider everyone else. I'm incredibly lucky to live in a really horsey area so lots of friends to hack and school with. I can't think of one negative to a small yard!

Love your logic!

I am on a tiny yard. Me plus 3 other liveries. There is no bitching and unlimited use of schooling ring. But its lonely. I never see anyone and always have to hack alone.

Another on a quiet yard. There are 3 other liveries and the YO. YO has 4 retired horses and spends the majority of her time away. 1 livery has a horse who is injured so cant ride. Other 2 dont ride either but both have sharers for their horses.

I have a sharer for one of my ponies so I hack with her 3 times a week and the rest of the time I school and enjoy the peace (when one of the liveries and her children have left!)
