Anyone started hay making yet?

I have been given a field this year to cut for hay. What is the best weather forecast site to look on for longer range weather forecast?
Has anyone started cutting yet near you?

We are growing for hay and TBH it looks ready to go & people in our area have already started. Didn't cut it till August last year!

Ditto, ours looks about ready, maybe give it another week or so depending on the weather. We only do about 1000 bales though not like some big hay merchants who have to get it all done ASAP as they have so much to do.

Our YO's hay field looks about ready to go, amazingly, although knowing him he'll leave it until the very last minute and it'll turn horrible.

Lots of silage being done around here though.

The local farmer baled yesterday.

Ours was done in September last year, but the field is no good this year as my horses trashed it over winter.

Cut ours Friday and baled yesterday in Sth Wales, just hoping they fetch it all in before the rain arrives, predicted at lunchtime. We're hoping we'll get a 2nd cut, as well

Ours has been ready to go for about a week, but we have not been forecast enough dry days to get it done and in, so we are holding off momentarily. Blooming pain as although we've been forecast rain, so far it hasn't come!

I'm not bothered about holding off for the hay we keep, but the selling hay needs to be perfect and right now is perfect.

we are hoping to cut our first lot for haylage this weekend, weather depending of course! We dont usually make hay until July, it has a smaller water content than haylage.
Teletext weather is as good as anywhere for checking the weather. Because of last years wearher we didn't get ours in until the end of August.
My OH is in charge of all of that though, strange farmer thing, won't start cutting on a Friday.....
