Yeah I think I may be onto something. Other half hadn't even sat on a horse until we met 5 years ago. Since getting the horses 2 years ago I have been gradually getting him to do more than just helping out with feeding/grooming/mucking out etc.
I admit it is hard because unlike talking to someone who is knowledgeable about horses I sometimes have to describe items I am talking about and say why I want it and what it is used for etc.
It is hard not to assume they know what you mean if you say can you pass me this that and the other.
But we all have to start somewhere and I would rather have someone who you do have to explain things to because they are less likely to make a mistake and rush off and do things how they think it should be done.
Since moving yards we have better facilities now and my partner has shown more interest in the horses. After having his first lesson last week ( which he told me he enjoyed) he seems very keen to carry on and it is my hope that one day we can both hack out together which would be really nice.
