Spencer my lively little Jrt is long haired and like a swiffer fluffy duster, picks up mud, leaves, dust etc! Also tiniest bit of dew on the grass and he's soaked! I've booked him in the groomers for short back and sides to try and help the problem but no idea what to ask for/ expect? Anyone have any pics?

George is a jrt cross...

Before :o He had just buried something in the mud

He has to go to the vets and have very deep sedation for his haircut because he has some behavioural issues due to a traumatic start in life :( He usually goes twice a year and the nurse just clips everything short :)

That's exactly what mine looks like untrimmed just a slimline version! Lol

He looks lovely clipped and I bet he's much easier to keep clean? X

Is he wire-haired? You could ask the groomer to hand strip Spencer's coat. Clipping a wire coat makes it soft instead of the hard wire jacket most JRTs have.

his hair is soft and fluffy (hence acting like a duster,:o lol) although he's only 12 months so don't know if this makes a difference?

If Spencer's coat is soft and fluffy, might as well clip it. Some terrier youngsters have a soft coat which becomes more wiry if it is hand-stripped. However, soft coats can be difficult to pull.

I'd just clip him. :) He'll be much more comfy without it picking up bits, and if you hate it, it grows back pretty quickly.

Be ready for him acting like a total wuss though- every time I clip my oldest terrier, he lays and shivers, and sulks! (Even with a fleece coat on!)

Haha I'm sure he'll act like a total diva! Luckily I've booked him in for the groomers so they can deal with him and I can just pick him up when it's all over.
