Given how cold it is outside at the moment and spring still seems so far away I'd consider swapping mine for a hampster? - mucking out would be a lot easier and exercise on a wheel infront of the fire - ideal!

Funny, but I know someone who did something not too far off. With all the wet weather, someone not too far away was struggling, so swapped a nice youngster for haylage.

Ive seen loads of ads on preloved and dd that state would swap for box, trailer, trap, diferent horse or WHY (not sure what that means!) I think while people are strugling to sell its becomi.g more and more common although not sure what would happen if one party suddenly decides they got the dud end of the deal and want to swap back??
Has any one ever actually swapped horses before and bin happy both ends??

It's odd isn't it! I think its the way they word these things! Like if you put a wanted ad for a horse and said you are also wanting to sell a chihuahua/lorry/etc I am sure anyone interested would approach you. I guess its no different to selling something and using the proceeds to buy a horse, but you just need two people looking for exactly what is being swapped.

I think with swapping horses you really need to have a clear value of both horses so no one feels hard done by, and I would expect one party to have to pay a bit of money to even up the values.

I wouldn't be at all filled with confidence that this would be a forever home for a horse (since size is the only factor they are interested in so far and who knows the situation with the little dog) but then I suppose some people just want to get rid :-(
