Anyone Tow with A Kia Sorrento?

Decided to up my budget to about £10k so that I can get something reliable. Think I'll probably go with either a Kia, Shogun or Trooper due to their slightly cheaper running costs.

Just wondered what you thought of the Kia as it's top of the list at the mo - bit worried about the Shogun as it does seem that much bigger! xx

We test drove a Sorento on Saturday, fab car to drive, but you feel every single bump/pot hole etc, I also found the seats very hard and after 15 mins was starting to get back ache.

Parents have one for towing the caravan - they love it. Plus Dad has knee problems - can hardly walk - and he drives it fine (is an automatic diesel).

Mind you theirs has the leather interior with heated seats - bliss in winter or if you have a bad back!!!!

Gets lots of awards as a towing car, they really like it, especially compared to the Discovery they used to have.
 
my mum bought a second hand kia when we got our trailer, its perfect for towing, we live in bristol and it can manage 2 big horses up and down the hills no problems. its v easy to use and its plenty big enough. ive never had a problem with it and i prefer it to my dads audi, much more comfy.
 
I was looking at ones with the full leather - top of the range jobbies as it will be my only car......mmmmm, sounds like they may be perfect for what I want then x

How scary - the Kia is my Mums and Dad has an audi!!!

I drove Dad's audi last week on an errand and it was horrible - but then I felt like I was driving on the floor, horribly low down - I guess I'm too used to my big truck!
 
my boyfriend has a new audi and a scuffed the alloys yesterday - luckily he laughed it off but I feel terrible!!! x
 
I have a short wheel base shogun, its really good and tows upto 3.5 tonnes, not sure what the sorrento tows, is it as much as that?

I think max tow load is 2.8 but think that would cover an ifor and 2 horses from what I believe?
 
Nissan Terrano's tow the same weight, 2800kgs. Don't rule them out. Excellent tow cars. £10k would buy you a 51/52 plate model easily.
 
I am getting the Kia sorento as soon as I can afford it.
I have a jeep Cherokee at the mo but it keeps breaking down so went and test drove the Kia. It's really super and lovely to drive...much much quieter and smoother than my Jeep. Also it's won awards for towing.
 
LOL. I never said they were pretty, but they are a serious tow car and excellent off road. Not sure what the Sorento's capabilities are if they get stuck in mud on show grounds as I've never driven one.

Lots of farmers have the Terrano's, so they're clearly respected as work horse vehicles and mine tows two horse with ease in my IW 505. Must admit I do like the look of the Sorento's and also the Rexton's but I've been told the Rexton's fall apart!

What I'd give for a new trailer though!
 
Yes i have a a sorento xs and tow an ifor 510 with one 16.2 horse, it is great. its the auto version which although not quite as fuel efficient does make hill starts etc much easier with the trailer on, the mpg is still around 30 so quite a bit better than many 4X4s, maybe not as refined as some cars on the road but we've happily driven to norfolk (4hrs) and no problem with comfort. As said tow weight 2.8t, the 510 is about 1 T on its own but still plenty left for 2 large horses so no prob there.
