Just in the process of changing my van and wondered if anyone had any experiences good or bad of the Vauxhall Vivaro and Citroen Relay vans... particularly to tow with?

I've got a lovely Ford Connect at the moment which I'm having to sell and upgrade because it's only got 2 seats and I'm about to have another baby so will need at least 3 seats - I've never towed with a van before so thought I'd ask for people's opinionsWhat van do you use currently, and why are you changing it? Just considering a van for towing... maybe...![]()
have you thought about a mercedes vito, we use them & they hold about 2 pallets (i think!), have 3 seats across the front & do tow (although we've only towed trailers & caravans)
we got our last ones from mercedes of york, as they did a very good deal
I've towed with the works transit, and it was pretty good, very stable and made an easy job of towing 2 horses, plus oooodles of room for tack etc, would have no probs towing with a van again, except in mud lol!!![]()
No idea about those two vans but I use a medium wheel base high roof Mercedes sprinter to tow with. I have towed before with many 4X4's (including a Defender, Shogun and Discovery) and have to say the van is better in every way other than in the mud or on very wet grass. Mine is a 313 so has a bit extra power than standard. The main thing is that the van is bigger than my 510 trailer so you feel a lot more 'influential'. It has no problems with hills, up or down, and feels much more stable in the wind or when being overtaken by an HGV etc. We need the big van for our Huskies and it's lucky it doubles up as a towing vehicle! Big advantage is that you have loads of room to throw all your stuff in!! Not so good thing is that you need more room to turn / park as it's a quite a long combined length.
Thanks Tinker - Good in snow is GOOD! LOL!we use the work citroen relay, it drives great and pulls well -also good in snow!
