I have had several Isuzu Troopers, I currently have 3.1TD's, They are very reliable and have tremedous towing ability. I have not used a Trooper van, but the running gear is the same.
I am on my 3rd Isuzu Trooper.
All have been SWB TD. Brilliant towing machines really good turning circle which makes life so much easier when manoeuvering with a trailer.
I think the Diesel Van is realy just an ordinary Trooper with the window panels gone.
Yup we have a Trooper 3 litre van 52 reg. Its superb for towing a large trailer with 2 big ID on board (and mini diggers!) One of the best things is it is taxed as a van NOT a 4x4 so £170 a year
The main thing to look out for with the 3 litre is that they should have all been recalled for esssential fuel injection modification but Isuzu were rubbish and not all have been done. If left then the faulty injectors will wreck the engine by allowing diesel to mix with the oil and raising the level too high BUT DONT PANIC just check the reg and chassis number with your local Isuzu dealer and they will confirm if it has been done and if it hasnt then it will be done FREE
BTW Cotswold Isuzu nr Witney are very very helpful/ friendly for advice even if you are nowhere near they are so good that peeps send them from all over UK for the recall work and there is a fab online forum on http://www.itocuk.co.uk
