Anyone tow with Nissan Xtrail?

Yep I've towed with a 2.2 sport DCI for the last five years and now I have a new style aventura top spec 2ltr 173hp and I love it.

I've towed up and down the length of Scotland with them and never had an issue :) great on fuel and insurance and road tax as not class as permanent 4x4 ;)

Ditto, I tow with 2.2, I love it, tows easily, great allround drive when not towing, great boot for all tack etc. I tow a big heavy horse and you wouldn't really know it was there.

There is another 2 on my yard too :)
 
What are you proposing towing horse and trailer wise, many combinations will be illegal!

ROG on the towing sticky on the competing section of the forum can give you specific advice based on the model you are looking at and your trailer and horse setup.
 
Yes we do. However we only really tow one small horse at a time. On the odd occasion we've needed to take two we generally use a Shogun from my partners work just to be certain.
 
i had the pleasure of owning one as my company car, had a 173bhp diesel sport version, even had a reversing camera which made hitching up a complete doddle :) it was use to tow a 510 ivor williams (980kg) and either two 15.2h horses (2x600) or my big boy at 17h (680kg) it was legally allowed to tow 2,500kg so well withing the legal limit with the two 15.2's but had plenty of power to tow, and more importantly the brakes were within the limits for stopping !

as others have said, it was really economical, insurance group was good, fuel consumption was excellent (diesel version) and there was loads of space for tack etc for shows. happily recommend too for driving comfort, i did around 35,000 miles a year in it for work and spent around 6 - 8 hrs a day driving and using as a mobile office, i found it fabulous for both long and short journeys.

sadly i had to give it back at the end of 2 years and havn't had a 4x4 as a company car since, i've now got a ssang yong rexton which is ok but very very thirsty and a bit big for everyday use, parking, and insurance, running costs etc are a lot higher.
 
Pretty sure mine would only tow a very lightweight trailer and one horse. It's a 2.2 automatic.

We each have one, me and the OH and had to get custom made arm rests as the factory ones are rubbish and low!
 
I've got a HB511 (1000kgs empty) and horse is 650kgs so only will have him onboard as otherwise it will be over weight. According to spec I can find online, the 2L turbo diesel will tow 2t braked.
 
my friend has one and can technically tow up to about 1600kg, so she normally doesn't, as it is pretty close, with 900kg trailer and her horse is atleast 600kg, can't take two. car itself is only about 2000kg, very light
