Anyone tried Acupuncture

My mare used to have it for her arthritis. She loved it and it helped her for a while but then it seemed to lose effectiveness. Its always worth a try

I'm having it myself for a soft tissue injury which is taking months and months to sort. it is working and has sorted out my arm and wrist. I'm now hoping it will sort hand out as well. If it works on us I cannot see why it wouldn't work on a horse. One word of caution though and that is that sometimes the needles are very painful going in especially if they are going through damaged tissue.

thanks everyone, im having a really bad time with my lovely boy, all his problems have been going on since May with right hind lameness and neck/back pain sometimes he cant get his head to the floor to eat. his been to local vet, Rossdales and now RVC still no answers :( xx

Its not the actual needles that hurt because they are hair-like, its more the effect of the acupuncture itself, perhaps the unblocking? I had mine done by a qulified midwife and a doctor, requiring 3 short session and all with excellent results. I wouldn't hesitate to have it again if required.

A vet treated my mare with acupuncture years ago when she had a bad back - it was fantastic, she really enjoyed it and (combined with some massage techniques the vet showed me) it sorted the problem, would def. use again if it was needed!

Thanks guys, the vet at RVC said about this yesterday so thought I would ask on here, think I will give it ago with my boy.. nothing else has worked x

Yes my mare had it a few years back for lameness and arthritis, she seemed to enjoy it and went bucking round the field afterwards. Another plus was that my insurance company paid for it!

I have run out of insurance money :( I'm paying for it all myself now, spent £5000 and more still have poorly horse. Thanks again everyone x
