Is it any good? I've just ordered some for my filly who has really bad diarrhoea since I was forced to take her off the field. She currently goes out in the sand turnout for 17 hrs a day and comes in for the other 7 hours. She is being fed her usual Pure Easy and ad lib haylage. I think it's the haylage that she isn't coping with. I am trying to source some hay for her but in the meantime I wondered if the Diareeze might help. She's otherwise in really good health. Bright and energetic with a lovely glossy coat.

Not used that particular one, but I've used many Global Herbs products over the years and been extremely impressed - especially with Pollenex! only one way to find out if it'll work :)

It definitely helped my older ones when they started suffering digestive problems. However, the best thing I found was slippery elm from hilton herbs. Maybe give them a call, they were very helpful with me. And I seem to recall their product wasnt as expensive but I could be wrong as it was some time ago.

I use it - it is fantastic, just a small introductory does is usually all that is required, I rarely need to give a secon dose.

Ooh that sounds promising then! Poor thing has a permanently wet bottom and legs which I have to clean up every day and which she doesn't enjoy!

Just goes to show how different they all are...protexin did nothing for mine apart from bankrupt me!

Wagtail - I assume it isnt haylage related? Mine were always much much worse on haylage. I also found that spraying hind legs with showsheen helped to keep them clean and prevent hair loss caused by what I could only term "poo burn" (it was a very long term problem with mine though). They also seemed to appreciate a little bit of sudocreme or savlon on their sore bits.

Made my horse worse. Protexin and charcoal fixed it.

Oh no! I guess I can only try it and see. To be honest I can't imagine it being worse.

Thanks for the tip. I will see if I have some show sheen left and order some if I don't. Yes, I'm pretty sure it's the haylage, although being on wet grass also does it to her. I have been trying to source some hay, but need it delivering and stacking. I have poorly shoulders at present so can't be heaving bales around.

Ha ha it's heading that way with me too but it is working! Although the charcoal made the biggest difference IMO.

I'm sure I have a tub of happy tum somewhere. I think that's charcoal.

Hi Wagtail
I have to keep one of mine on Bailey's digest plus all winter when he is on haylage. He just can't cope with it. It certainly helps him. He has been on protexin for another reason and has been struggling with the haylage so I was going to put him back on the Bailey's. Could you try some ready grass? It is nice and dry and a bucket a day just may help to dry her system out?
:)

Thanks. I had not thought of ready grass. I was going to get in some chopped oat straw. Might get both.

I found my tub of Happy Tummy and have started her on it this morning. Hopefully it will help her. My Diareeze should arrive by tomorrow if not.

I'm ordering a pot of this today as well for a filly who lives with a runny tum and haven't found anything that works yet. Have tried
Protexin balancer
Quick fix/gut bind
Charcoal
Imodium
The best so far has been indigestion tablets so iv put her on haylage balancer which is carbon carbonate and is helping

I'd give the happy tummy a couple of days on its on first- honestly the global herbs stuff is what made me call in the vet as it made the problem so much worse :-/. I know they're all different but still...

I'll take a look at the haylage balancer, thanks.

Yes, if the charcoal works, I'll not put her on the global herbs. Fingers crossed one of them works.

My youngster is like this with a change of field/in for longer/out for longer, I just give him a couple of days of the baileys digest plus and he is right as rain again. Its so good I give to my others when they are staying away at shows/having any sudden changes in routine/diet.

Will have a look at that too. It's too soon to tell if the charcoal is working, but when I cleaned her up today there was no squirting of watery diarrhoea whilst she was standing tied up. So looking promising.

So far no improvement with the happy tummy. I started the diareeze yesterday and no better at all :( I will have a look at the haylage balancer and protexin, but if thes don't work I think it's a job for the vet. She is due worming too, They are all getting an equest pramox in a week or two.

It took a while for my boys to settle too. I spent around £500 getting the vet to run tests that only showed he must have a 'sensitive stomach' lol but it has put my mind at ease. The protexin/charcoal combo has Defo been best for him but have heard good things about the haylage balancer. Good luck OP, and remember the diareze made mine worse!

Yeah, will stop the diareeze if still as bad tomorrow as I think it improved ever so slightly on the happy tummy, though nothing much, and now is as bad as it has ever been.

I've had lots of success with Global Herbs products generally but not tried this one.

My boy gets the same problem with haylage or green grass. I did used to use charcoal, which was reasonably effective. I now use Bentonite clay (http://www.ebay.ie/itm/1kg-Bentonit...pt=UK_Home_Garden_Food_SM&hash=item20c068dae6), which is amazing. As soon as he gets at all runny I give him a tablespoon or so of this in a bit of Fast Fibre (so soaked for a few mins) and it sorts it out immediately, plus he loves it and eats it up no problem. It was suggested by someone on the Phoenix Forum who had done a lot of research into it, you do have to be careful of the source as some have heavy metals in. I wouldn't want to feed it daily for any length of time just in case, but I've never had to feed it more than two days in a row to get him back to normal.

Another thing to try. Thank you!

my gelding gets a runny bum with the slightest change in grazing or feed. The best results I've had have been with Baileys Digest Plus. A couple of days and he's back to normal :)

Thanks. I'm pleased this has worked for your boy. It makes sense that I probably should try a probiotic or prebiotic. I think her balancer already has brewers yeast in which I think is a probiotic, and the Baileys is a prebiotic so may be what she needs. So many things to try and I don't know which to go for next.

My QH has a very sensitive tummy. Can't ever feed him haylage -it goes straight through him like s**t through a goose!!
Same thing happens on good grazing. Virtual cowpats! Read about Naff Haylage Balancer a while ago, seems it was also useful for horses at grass. Gave it a try, and it is definitely helping. I give him 2 good measures a day and the poo now has a reasonable shape!

Thank you. My girl is the same on good grass or any grass that is wet. It doesn't seem so bad cleaning her up in the summer, but it's not good in the cold weather, though she is getting much more tolerant than she was, bless her.

Not for diarrhoea but my boy has never had the firmest poo's despite a high fibre diet (meadow hay, hi-fi, formula4 feet) I have used digest + and others in the past with no success but I saw a thread on here about adding salt and now they practically bounce when they hit the floor!! :) and thats one heaped teaspoon a day

That's a good (and cheap) tip. Thank you.
