Just wondered if anyone had tried them yet? They are supposed to be palatable so you can just feed them like a treat(!). Two of my horses are a piece of cake to worm but Barney is not (He is convinced that I am trying to kill him so is a little horror to get the wormer down). I thought these sounded a really good idea, but wonder how tasty they really are - he is VERY suspicious! Thanks!

I looked into them. Read a bit on another forum. Put me off trying them as lots of people said their horses weren't keen. Wish we could try the placebo tablets first. I, for one, don't want to fork out £15 for something I wont be able to use. Be good to try them first wouldn't it?

ive seen the dummy ones. they are mint flavour and look like big xtrong mints , i would be very interested to see how easy they are . and they are v easy to calculate as one tab does 100kg of horse. simple

Lacehiggs, I agree they look really easy to get the right dose. Usually I end up chucking away part of each syringe, however, they are not exactly good value for money if they wont eat the darn things. Ho Hum, might buy one lot and see what he makes of them! Bet he rumbles me....

You can get a pack of two placebo tablets.
Ask you stockist or the manufacturers
Our fussiest ones ate them !
Fallback would be to crush them and put them a bowl of sugarbeet or mix
Much easier to dose accuratley as the pack has 800 kilos's worth, so one pack will be enough for biggest cob.

Lots of horses weigh more than 600 kilos, ( proper weighing, not weigh tape) so average syringe is not enough.

Be interesting to hear what they think of it (the horses, I mean!)

I got some of the placebo tabs at HOYS and tried them on my mare and she spat it straight back out again. She is luckily ok (ish) to worm, i have perfected it over the years but thought they'd be worth a try to make worming even easier but no such luck

I have them but havent used them yet! I think I will be ok with most of mine but not sure about one of them! I will let you know! I am not quite sure how to use the placebo ones. I am guessing that you feed a placebo before each tablet. Must read the destructions!

I am not too sure about them though!!

We tried the placebo tablets on loads of horses. Only one horse actually took one and he then spat it out and spent the next 5 mins doing fleshmans! - and he is the most greedy, piggy horse ever.

I used them on my Welsh D yesterday and she scoffed the lot! She's bad to worm so I was thrilled, especially as she was wanting more! They keep for up to a year once opened so I've saved the rest for next time I need to worm for tapeworm, and it's going to work out cheaper in the long run.
