Not rugging (chrome wants me to change it to tugging) here, but clipping this week, so will be then. Grey pony has decided that it's a good idea to start growing his winter coat already(the joys of natives, eh?)
Its not to cold where l keep my horses but its getting pretty windy my palomino filly is starting to dapple & my ISH is moulting bad, autumn is definitely on its way but don't want to rug up until l have to its getting thd balance right l suppose!!!
It's very chilly here tonight so from tomorrow the TB and the WB and the clipped cob ( who evil owner wont rug until he's freezing ) will have jackets Fatty the ID is allowed no clothes .
I have thought about it, he wear a fly sheet during the day. However have discovered it only gets very cold here in the early hours (3am ish), so it's only a couple of hours, but he does get cold So no, unless it drops below 10 degrees. He's a very fine coated TB. If he does wear anything at night its a amigo cotton sheet.
I had to clip my shetland last week as her winter coat was well on its way and she was itching/sweating in the 25 degrees heat. Have been putting a rain sheet on her at night just in case it rains.
All our ponies have lightweights on at night, and fly rugs in the day. There is a definite chill in the air and the TBs in particular really feel it. I suspect we could leave the Argentines without rugs all winter and they'd be fine...but I'm a softy...
