Mine are out all day in at night. Ground is drying up but not a lot of grass yet. They do have a shelter. Hopeful they can go out full time in next couple of weeks.

Im hoping mine wont be too long now. I have sectioned field to allow some grass to grow. They dont need a lot of grass but I like them to have a bit to go at once out 24/7.

I’ve switched to out overnight and in during the day again. I don’t have much grass but they haven’t bothered when I put hay out so they must be getting enough.
I never have them out 24/7 so this is my summer routine. It makes life so much easier!

Mine are out about 20 hrs/day and have been all winter.

They're still in their winter field at the moment.
We have tonnes of grass coming through but the summer fields are a smidge too wet under foot to risk them wrecking them by galloping about.
We're due a good dry spell now so hopefully we can swap fields this weekend 🤞

Ours have been out 24/7 for the last 5 yrs! This winter it was touch and go though, they had to be rugged for weeks while the wind was coming from the east. All our shelter shields them from the prevailing westerly winds, but was no use to them throughout January.
The summer grass has started growing but the land is too wet to put them on there yet, so they/we are still coping with the muddy winter field.
Fortunately it sounds as if the weather is going to be drying up towards the end of this week. Let's hope it's the start of this year's better weather.

mine are out 27/4 all year round, with a free choice barn! but in fairness most of the horses on my yard have been out all winter, and have only been brought in when the rain has been really heavy! I'm actually so surprised that most of the fields have held up so well! only 2 are trashed and those owners pretty much left out all winter, and their on a hill, both with very big horses, so its understandable that their fields are pretty muddy!

Another who's are out 24/7 all year but I haven't moved on to the summer fields yet - I want a bit more grass on them and just a bit drier as it wouldn't take much for them to become wet and muddy again. Looking at the forecast, hopefully in the next couple of weeks they'll swap over.

Ours are switching to living out on Wednesday, we're lucky to have spring paddocks for them to go onto. They've been pre-grazed to some degree by YOs horses so hopefully ours won't turn into blimps :D
Ambers already showing signs of spring excitement so I'm wondering which will win, more movement versus more grass!

Our grass is really growing but it is too wet under hoof to turn out 24/7 yet. Although we do have a small herd of retirees who have been out all winter on the drier fields up the hill.
Looks like we have a dry week ahead after some more rain today, so maybe next week.
I won't turn my older boy, who is still in full work, out full time until he can happily sleep in the field. He likes his time lying down but won't lie on wet ground and at his age he deserves his luxuries. He's only in for about 8 hours overnight and my camera shows he lies down for at least five hours!

Mine are out 24/7 all year round, but we are behind moving them onto summer paddock this year, it was end of March last year but I think it will be end of April this year. It had dried up nicely but then we had another deluge last week and it's too wet again.

Nope. Have split one of the summer fields in half to get them off winter field. It's so wet still. 😫
Should be out at some point in April if rain holds off 🤞

Mine are always out 24/7. The resting fields are growing like crazy here at the moment, even the hard grazed ones that were barren a few weeks ago.

Nope, need the ground to dry out because we only have the one (huge) field so need to give it a fighting chance.

Out 10hrs a day at the moment and spending maybe the last hour of that waiting near the gate.

I'm not too fussed about temperature just rain, we have minimal grass but they're lami risks so that's how I like it.

Yup! Still on winter fields because my summer fields are too wet - once the willows spring into life the groundwater drops quickly but we're not there yet

There are enough nibbles in the winter field to keep them occupied and hay out to fill bellies. I'd like a bit more weight loss from my mares before summer too!

Tb is out with shelter access, metabolic mares out for a bit in the day then in at night again, will be on dry lot soon. Only had to put hay out in the field for less than 4 weeks this year, far too much bloody grass.

After the initial excitement on going out a different way this morning, it's been heads down hoovering the grass since. With the weird temp changes, I'm going over later this evening to pop her no fill on as it says down to 4 degrees overnight despite saying its 15 during the day.

I've caved and moved mine to a new field today.
The weather is too nice for them to stay in the winter field!
It should last them 2 weeks so 🤞 the tracked field will be dry enough by then.

Mine is out 24/7 anyway but mud around corral noticeably drier. Field is lovely and dry and grass growing. We’re not allowed winter and summer paddocks just 7 acres all year round for 3 or 4 horses. Not the best system but for the most part it’s ok.

Does anyone else only pop them out for an hour first few days? Im always afraid of the change in their gut so hoping mine will go out an hour a day for the next week and then build it up.

Yes, I only let them out on fresh spring grass on days I’m around. Will generally do 2-4-6-8 hours on consecutive days before 24/7

I reckon I’m a month off using the summer field still

My little cob has been out over night for most of the winter as she keeps a big draft horse company and he needs to be out as much as possible. I'm just watching the ground and grass as she is grazing muzzled when necessary
