My new boy gets very stressed when i take the other one out. He box walks and doesnt seem to eat the whole time i am gone!
At the moment i dont go for long but when i start eventing i will be gone all day so obviously want to find a way of de stressing him.
I am going to try and leave him in the field tomorrow giving OH strict instructions to get him in quickly should he become frantic :o He will have the sheep for company out there.
I can buy him a shetland as a companion if i need to but obviously thats another mouth to feed and house.
I just wondered if it was worth trying a stable mirror first. Does anyone have any experience of them? Do they work?

we have just put a mirror up today for a nervy pony and hes in love with it haha keeps looking and was half a asleep next to it
and we also had one in a ex racehorse's stable as he got very stressed if any horses went out ect he didnt completly calm down but he did settle abit more :) sorry not much help there x

I got a big sheet of acrylic mirror from ebay for £20 and glued it on to a piece of marine ply then screwed that on the wall.

The pony always checks in with his pal in the mirror when he comes in.

Yes! Made an amazing difference. Vet was shocked at how stressed my pony was in a stable. Got her a mirror and hey presto! She had the mirror for 6 years. Have moved stables now and not put the mirror back up and she is more than happy without it. Will however still put it up as she loves her friend in the mirror and she tends to poo in the one place.....next to the mirror! :D
