Anyone use Am trust insurance?

Hi, I've recently signed up with them on the recommendation of a friend who used them. Her new horse injured itself within a week of arriving - trying to jump out of a field and Amtrust paid up no problem.

They've been very easy to deal with in terms of setting up the policy so far and lifted an exclusion after a farrier's report - so from my personal experience they seem good.

That's just what I want to hear! The premiums pretty good and I can do it now online as it's a quite urgent. Thanks very much.

Yeah, long story as I didn't plan to be with them but won't go in to it....

They initially turned my claim down last year, then paid up in full when I kicked up a fuss. They paid for hospital livery, all care, everything.

They aren't horsey though so they don't know the first thing about horsey conditions, which is why I had trouble getting them to agree to pay up as they didn't understand his condition.

I have one of my horses insured with them and when I went to make a claim last year they tried everything to not pay out.

Did eventually get the money after letters from my vet and letters of complaint but what a nightmare they were. All my other horses are insured with SEIS and no problems so far...

Vets dont recommend them and could be one of the companies you find yourself having to pay your vet upfront with as soon as they know who you're insured by....worth checking.

I insured my horse with Am Trust. Bit worried after reading the comments above though

I was really surprised to read the comments about AmTrust. I have been insured with them for a couple of years. This year I have had to make a claim and found them to be knowledgeable, sympathetic and efficient. My claim was paid direct into my vets bank account within hours of me faxing it through to them. The claims manager is very helpful and has bent over backwards to help me. I can thoroughly recommend them but as with anyone, you do need to check that you have the insurance cover that you think you have.

They were great once they agreed to pay the claim, but I had to really argue with them to get them to pay out. I found that they used any excuse they could to wriggle out of paying, including arguing with the diagnosis of TWO vets. Once they did agree they were fine, paid directly to the vet within a day or two of me sending the invoices. It was just getting them to pay out!
