Anyone use Aubiose bedding or equivalent to make a field shelter bed?

We want to make a warm bed in the field shelter for our pony in winter. We aren't keen to get rubber matting for various reasons and a friend recommended this hemp based bedding - she also recommended another one which I can't remember the name of but it began with M :o

I like the idea of it as it sounds as though you can use it as deep litter and it is organic and breaks down easily in the muckheap. I presume it is very expensive...just wondered if anyone had used it or anything like it?

Never used it in a field shelter but have used it in the stable (Hemcore is the other one you may be thinking of) for 13 years and wouldn't swap. Shop around as prices do vary. I only use half a bale per week so it is very economical, plus you only muck out fully once a week, it is mega-absorbant (one barrow of wet each weekend), deodorizes so no smelly clothes when you disturb it, it rots down well and is generally fantastic. A cheaper alternative which I think is pretty good too is Bliss bedding which is chopped rape straw.

I used it in a field shelter and loved it. However when it did rain, some always got under the walls and soaked the bedding. I've now got rubber matting, but confess I haven't bothered with bedding over the last winter and this summer, as they used it as a big toilet and then slept outside!
