As title. Horseflies are really bad this year and I’m finding Deosect is only lasting a week at most. With 5 to do I need something economical (I do have a CPH number).

Yep I used it on horses (quietly recommended to me by a vet). Pretty good stuff. Just one thing, no 'potion' will ever deter horse flies, they use sight hence zebra or patterned flysheets been proven to deter horse flies.

I assume they use sight to hunt their prey but the potion prevents them from biting. I say this after a conversation last year with a local farmer who had put some young cattle in a field by the river where the horse flies are terrible. He said that the spot on treatment was effective against the horse flies as he had missed one beast and that was covered in flies but all the others were ok.

We get Spotinor for the sheep and use it on the horses, too, with vet agreement. We don't have trouble with horse-flies here (too windy) and only use the Spotinor once per month and top up with tea-tree oil spray to deter midges , which we do get.

I've used it. It's good, much better than fly sprays which imo are useless, unless you use half the bottle.
