I've been using a thin easibed bed with rubber matting for 4 weeks now, using about a bale a week. For rubber matting its quite a deep bed. I like it and once it settles it was easy to remove the wet from the bottom but does anyone else find that it gets really discoloured? When I got it it looked so white and now its mainly brown, but it doesn't smell and I muck it out fully every day and remove everything, and I sweep out under the mats every 2-3 days. I've ordered some shavings to sprinkle on the top, purely to make it look better, do I sound mad or does anyone else do this??!

I think you sound mad!!! As long as the beds clear of poo and wet stuff, I wouldn't worry about it being discoloured!!

I use it at work...personally don't really like it and the horses there are on massive beds with a new bale going down every few days!

I did use easibed, and hated it, went back to bedmax.

I don't mind it, I think it looks ok when its mucked out but it can be a pain to muck out, it doesn't 'stick together' well. Bedmax is popular on the yard and I'm thinking of changing..but just ordered 4 more easibed and 2 shavings so will see how I get on.
I'm just being neurotic I think I don't want my horse's bed to look dirty, not that he notices!

I use easibed, and my bed is almost always brown:

It depends how mucky your horse is how much it discolours (and how wet it is outside, as it's very absorbent!)

I skip out every day, and take the bed up once a week to remove the wet, and let the floor dry out. I tend to use a new bale as my banking, and pull it down through the week.

My YO has spotless white beds for her horses, but that's cos she takes the droppings out throughout the day, so there isn't time for them to discolour the bed!

I have "potty" trained my horse - he only has a patch of easibed about 1m square halfway down one side of the stable where he wees (but doesnt stand).... and he mostly poos at the back, where I dont put any bedding...

I do a full muck out every day.. I use 2 bales a week (but they only go out mornings), when I put the new bale in I put most of it up against the wall and just pull it down as I need it - that way, whats there is always clean (ish!)

I make sure to put the slightly dirty, but not bad enough to chuck out stuff where he is going to pee and then a layer of clean stuff on top...

Am I really sad too? It still only takes 10mins cos there is so little bedding to sort out!!! I used to use double the bedding and take at least twice as long when he had a full bed and no mats.... and it still always looked manky!!

I use normal shavings but my friend uses easibed and I love mucking out her stable as its brilliant and so much easier. Am going to change to easibed definitely.
